Jeev Hatya is a thought moving around various religious institutions which means to Kill a Jeev (organism).

Sikhism believe Jeev can never be killed because Soul is immortal. Soul transmigrate from one body to other according to his will(thoughts). Bhagat Kabir opens this concept in wide range, while having discourse with Mullah:

You seize a living creature, and then bring it home and kill its body; you have killed only the clay.

The light of the soul passes into another form. So tell me, what have you killed? ||2||

Sikhism does not have any self contradictory statement and demotes concept of Jeev Hatya, because Sikhism strongly believes that Jeev could never be killed but jeev is seperated from clay and Jeev again passes into other form.

Satgur Arjun Dev also explained same concept that Jeev never dies:

There is the one dust, the one light, the one praanic wind. Why are you crying? For whom do you cry? ||2||

People weep and cry out, "Mine, mine! This soul is not perishable. ||3||

Says Nanak, the Guru has opened my shutters; I am liberated, and my doubts have been dispelled. ||4||43||112||
