There are two historically recognised holocaust in Sikh history. Th small holocaust of 1746 called the Chota Ghalughara and the great holocaust or Wadda Ghalughara of 1762.

However 2 recent events are also being added to the above list. These are the Jallianwalla Bagh massacre of 1919 carried out by the British military and the Operation Blue Star in 1984 carried out by the Indian military.
