Gurudwara Pehli Patshahi Trivanmalay

Gurudwara Pehli Patshahi Trivanmalay is a Manji Sahib built to preserve the memory of the visit of Guru Nanak Sahib. Located in Trivanmalay a town in district Arkat (Tamilnadu province), visited by Guru Nanak Sahib during his first missionary journey.

Guru Amar Das used the term, Manji to refer to the various regions in Punjab and other places where he established a division or sub-group for the efficient administration of the affairs of the Sikhs. He originally divided the Sikh Sangat into 22 branches across India.

Definitions

• Pehli Patshahi - lit. the first master / Guru Nanak; Patshahi or Patishah is a Persian term meaning Shah of Shahs; in English - King of Kings. The title has been used to refer to the Khalifs in Bagdad, Persia, Istanbull and the Moghuls in India as well as a title of the Sikh Gurus.

• A Manji (a small charpai or cot) where the local Granthi sat while the congregation gathered around.
