This Gurdwara called Jandsar sahib is so called as the tenth [[Sikh Guru]], [[Guru Gobind Singh]] at this location used the funds from the secret ("Gupt") treasure to play wages to the soldiers who were fighting the war against the Mughals and hill Rajas. At this place, the Guru tied his horse to the [[Jand tree]] and together with the adjacent pool of water (in punjabi called "[[sarovar]]), the place became known as ''"Jandsar sahib"''. Gurdwara Jandsar Sahib is half a kilometre to the northwest of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib which is one of five takhats important to the Sikhss.
