Gurdwara Baba Jaani Shah is situated in Sri Hargobindpur Town, along with Gurdwara Damdama Sahib.

Sayyed Jaani Shah deserted his family in hopes of find his way closer to god. He disguised himself as a faqir and was wandering at the break of day, as the sun disappeared in the west. He tried everything; praying to the gods of the Hindus and Islam, did his five Namaz' (Muslim prayers) daily, but in all his seeking he got nothing.

He was told about Guru Nanak's house by someone, what he heard about the Guru filled his heart with happiness. So he traveled to meet with Khawaja (the sewadar of the Guru's Ghorhas). After he told Khawaja of his relentless search for God, Khawaja told him to pray before the Guru sitting on his dwar. Obeying what the Khawaja told him, Jaani Shah went and sat at the Guru's dwaar. He prayed to the Guru. Guru Ji sent a Sikh to Jaani and asked him what he wanted; money?, clothes? etc, you will get it. But Jaani denied and said " Jaani ko Jaani Mila de". (Get Jaani to meet the Jaani (beloved, lord) ). Guru Ji rose a wall to test Jaani and said to his Sikhs if Jaani want to meet Jaani (beloved, God) tell him go and jump in the river Beas. After hearing that from a Sikh of the Guru, Jaani ran towards the river Beas. Guru Ji sent Bhai Bidhi Chand Chinna after him and called him back. Guru Hargobind Sahib hugged him. Thus Jaani Shah met with the true lord. Guru Sahib blessed him, if anyone comes to Jaani Shah's place, all his/her desires shall be fulfilled.
