Exorcism (from Late Latin exorcismus, from Greek exorkizein - to adjure) is the practice of evicting demons or other evil spiritual entities from a person or place which they are believed to have possessed (taken control of). The practice is quite ancient and part of the belief system of many religions.

In Sikhism, exorcism is not permitted and is seen as a violation of the Sikh Rehat Maryada (Code of Conduct), since Sikhs do not believe in demons, ghosts, or the sort. If a Sikh person were to be found practising exorcism, an ordained Giyni (priest) would have the power to strip that individual of any ties to the Sikh faith. This anti-exorcism stance separates Sikhism from what are viewed as the exorcism rituals of Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Taoism, and Shintoism.

Some Quotes

"But in some gurdwaras i had seen some Mahants practicing exorcism projects, as many persons came which have in-built bhoot(ghost), and baba put amrit jal on them and bhoot start crying and shouting. If anybuddy use to recite chopai sahib before that man having ghost or bhoot in it he will start shouting. I had seen many cases" by (Lucky 23:11, 12 April 2008 (MDT))

In Some sikh people, the ghost always comes through hindu or Muslim cheezs, i had seen many cases no mantras available in guru granth sahib or side text to put spirit in somebody. Hinduism Tantriks and Muslim Tantriks do the same. From hindu sides Matas comes in body and shouts hoo haa and from islam side peer or musalmani cheez comes in body and shouts hoo haa. Many sikh start going to fake babas, Deras, Kabars, Hindu tantriks, Dargahs due to this reason hu haaa. Some of my family members(faternal side) suffering from the same bhoots, Cheezs, Jinns, Peers. I am watching all this since i had born. till now no bhoot leaves there body. i will elaborate all in this article.(Lucky 23:11, 12 April 2008 (MDT))

Udhaa people who do mool mantar, simran or nitnem, or recite gurbani daily are not affected by these negative forces.

If the person is truly possessed - then the spirit should run away.

Spirits always go away from amrit jall

Some advices would be go to the Gurdwara or in presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and the Panj Pyaare (5 Amritdhari Gursikhs who keep Rehat and do Naam Simran). The person who is posessed should be brought in front of the Panj Pyaare. Holding Sarbloh Kirpaans the Panj Pyaare should do Simran circling the possesed person. If the person is truly possessed - then the spirit should run away.
