The Five Holy Takhats & the Guru Granthi Today In India today there are five historical Thrones of the Guru called Takhats which are ruling centers for the Khalsa. They are:

  • Akal Takhat in Amritsar (beside the Golden Temple)
  • Siri Keshgar Sahin in Anandpur Sahib (Birthplace of the Khalsa)
  • Takhat Harimandar-Patna Sahib (Birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh)
  • Takhat Dam Damma Sahib (in Batinda district of Panjab)
  • Takhat Sachkhand in Hazur Sahib (place where Guru Gobind Singh breathed his last breath)
