The Five Holy Takhats & the Guru Granthi Today In India today there are five historical Thrones of the Guru called Takhats which are ruling centers for the Khalsa. They are:
- Akal Takhat in Amritsar (beside the Golden Temple)
- Siri Keshgar Sahin in Anandpur Sahib (Birthplace of the Khalsa)
- Takhat Harimandar-Patna Sahib (Birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh)
- Takhat Dam Damma Sahib (in Batinda district of Panjab)
- Takhat Sachkhand in Hazur Sahib (place where Guru Gobind Singh breathed his last breath)
