"On 25th April 1983, the civil clothed police officers waiting around the Parikarma and waited for Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Bhindranwale to come, so they can take commando action on him. DIG Atwal was also in civil clothes ordering his officers on this operation. During a speech Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale explained that.." I am in favor of saving the honor of women..about the incidents of such acts of rape which may not be well known to the public however the Babas know the incident well. In the village of Dao, a Sikh girl was stripped naked and paraded around the village by the policeman of Tarn Taran. The SSP of Amritsar, Atwal, claimed responsibility for the incident, however he was awarded by the Chief Minister of Punjab with the promotion of rank to DIG of Jalandhar. He was previously in charge of one district but now he is in charge of five districts..this is the punishment he received for stripping naked a Sikh women from a poor family" |
