Rakhi usually means 'guard duty' but that does not make sense in the context of the sentence. The other meanings see - {{w|rakhi}} also do not make sense - Further down the paragraph the word is used again.  It appears to indicate that the Sikhs forgo "rule" or "war booty" of the area in return for a jagir. I am not sure; perhaps someone else may have a better idea.  [[user:hari singh|Hari Singh]][[User talk:Hari singh|talk]] 00:17, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

Question: is rakhi the same as Lagaan. Allenwalla 11:55, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

Rakhi usually means 'guard duty' but that does not make sense in the context of the sentence. The other meanings see - rakhi also do not make sense - Further down the paragraph the word is used again. It appears to indicate that the Sikhs forgo "rule" or "war booty" of the area in return for a jagir. I am not sure; perhaps someone else may have a better idea.
