Shudra (IAST: Śūdra) is the lowest Varna in the traditional four-section division in the Hindu caste system. Their assigned and expected role in post-Vedic India was that of slaves, servants and bonded labourers. The four Varnas are Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya, Shudra.
