Harpreet Singh Sandhu is the first Asian, Sikh, and South Asian city councilperson of Richmond, California and a major city with over 100,000 people in Northern California's San Francisco Bay Area. He was sworn in on January 16, 2007.[1] He was appointed by a vacancy left by Gayle McGlaughlin when she became mayor.
Sandhu was elected to represent Congressional District 7 as Senator Obama's delegate to the National Democratic Convention in Denver.
