Hello, Sat Sri Akal, Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh, Namastae, Salaam, ਜੀ ਆਇਆਂ ਨੂੰ: Nihangsingh Ji! A very warm welcome from SikhiWiki and many thanks for your contribution to the article Guru Granth Sahib on meat. I am sorry we have had to revert back the changes (additions, amendments and/or deletions) that you made as your contribution does not comply with the expected format and nature of articles at this website. As the name of the article implies, this article is only concerned with the Gurbani's view and advise on meat - It is not concerned with what the Akal Takhat, SGPC or anyone else says about this matter - The whole article is about Gurbani and other sacred texts and the guidance that they offer to the Sikh.

A Sikh is defined as a follower of the True Guru; a Sikh is not defined as a follower of Akal Takhat or SGPC, etc - ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਜਿ ਦਿਤਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੋ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਸਿਖੀ ਕੰਨੇ ॥ The Sikhs listen to the Teachings imparted by the True Guru.(SGGS page 314) A Sikh listens to the instructions given by the Guru not by others like the Akal Takhat or SGPC, etc. This is central to the definition of a Sikh.

I am sorry that we have had to revert your changes. Please do not take this as a general statement of rejection of your ideas but just a special circumstance in this case and a result of etiquette linked to wiki development. In future, before any such changes can take place, please discuss any such action on the "discussion" page of the article before taking any action. We will be much obliged for your cooperation.

I hope you will bookmark this Sikhi website and keep visiting it on a regular basis. Also, you are invited to help us enhance the site by checking it, amending it, by adding to it, by making useful suggestions and by discussing issues on the discussion pages, etc. Please feel free to add to or amend any of the topics that you have knowledge about. What Gurbani teaches the Sikh

Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh

Gurbani tells us of the benefits to following the teachings of the Guru; there is no tuk in the Guru Granth Sahib which advises the Sikh to follow anyone else. All benefits are obtained when one follows the true teaching of the Guru Granth; no where has the Guru told the Sikh to look else where.

Which "Historical Granths of the Khalsa Panth"' are above the Guru Granth Sahib! - NONE. The Granth is the ONLY GURU - If you call yourself a Sikh then it is your duty to understand Gurbani and follow the instructions given - Looking elsewhere for your spiritual well-being is futile and a weakness.

You say that these "Historical Granths" are "proven by Akaal Thakat Shaib, and a large part of the sikh history from 1700 century to 1800" SO WHAT? They do not become the Guru of the Sikh - that respect should only be given to the holy Granth. First and foremost, a Sikh needs to follow the teaching of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Nothing else should supersede this primary function:

Punjabi: "ਸੱਬ ਸਿੱਖਣ ਕੋ ਹੁਕਮ ਹੈ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਾਨਯੋ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ"
Transliteration: "Sab sikhan kō hukam hai gurū mānyō granth"
English: "All Sikhs are commanded to take the Granth as Guru."
Guru Gobind Singh, October, 1708, Nanded

Guru Gobind Singh has given the Sikhs very clear directions - Why do you choose to ignore these directions? Is it a sign of weakness or do you wish not to follow the Hukam of the tenth master. If the Guru wants to give different instructions, then I am sure he would have included them with the above tuks. In spiritual matters, the Guru is my guide and that is how all Sikhs respect the holy Granth - It is their one and only spiritual guide in this world.

Upḏes jė ḏiṯā saṯgurū so suṇi▫ā sikẖī kanne. Jin saṯgur kā bẖāṇā mani▫ā ṯin cẖaṛī cẖavgaṇ vanne. Ih cẖāl nirālī gurmukẖī gur ḏīkẖi▫ā suṇ man bẖinne. (25)
The Sikhs listen to the Teachings imparted by the True Guru.

Those who surrender to the True Guru's Will are imbued with the four-fold Love of the Lord.
This is the unique and distinct life-style of the Gurmukhs: listening to the Guru's Teachings, their minds blossom forth. (25)

Pauree:

Blessed, blessed is that Sikh of the Guru, who goes and falls at the Feet of the True Guru.
Blessed, blessed is that Sikh of the Guru, who with his mouth, utters the Name of the Lord.
Blessed, blessed is that Sikh of the Guru, whose mind, upon hearing the Lord's Name, becomes blissful.
Blessed, blessed is that Sikh of the Guru, who serves the True Guru, and so obtains the Lord's Name.
I bow forever in deepest respect to that Sikh of the Guru, who walks in the Way of the Guru. (18)

Nihang Singh

As Hari Singh Suggests

A Sikh listens to the instructions given by the Guru not by others like the Akal Takhat or SGPC (adding: taksaal, 3HO, nihngs or Nishkam Seva societies), etc. All benefits are obtained when one follows the true teaching of the Guru Granth; no where has the Guru told the Sikh to look else where.

So Do not listen to My Interpretations or Hari Singh interpretations, or Professor Sahib Singh Interpetation, or any Manmohan singh interpretations or nihang singh iterpretations, missionaries interpretations, 3HO Interpretations, mahindra singh interpretatins, guruka interpretations, or mine interpretations :). Gurbani has given it's own interpretation within itself, follow it and my suggestion to you is to be cool and do not touch articles without discussion.

There are other articles need to brushed on Gurmat philosophy have touch them. Meat is neither primary nor secondary but tertiary issue :)
