Once in a year I stay at Chandigarh for one month. During weekends I visit Gurudwaras. I have been to Sri Fatehgarh Sahib & Anandpur Sahib more than once. I am an Arya Samaji. I have some knowledge of Sikhism. Little it may be, but sufficient that I still feel & will feel during the whole of my life a great respect for all the 10 gurusahibs and infinite martyrs who sacrificed themselves in the path directed by the gurus. when I stayed at Fatehgarh sahib, I filled with positive emotions towards "dharma".

A great deed can make you a follower instantly, which a thousand books cannot.

Today is my first day on Sikhiwiki. Fortunately on first page I found life history of Bhakta Puran Singh ji. This switching of Hinduism to Sikhism is strange for me. Sikhs are elder brothers of Hindus.

Please ponder upon an incident: I with my family went to Amritsar and tried for 4 hours in the Sarais around the golder temple - but could not find a room. All the Punjabi & English speaking Sikhs were getting rooms and keys - we could not. What should I say.

Today I searched for the website of Sri Fatehgarh sahib & found Sikhiwiki. Read the incident which happened with Bhakta Puran Singhji. There may be some more and more harmonious incident, which could have impressed the reader with harmony. In my opinion Sikhism is more for whom, who could sacrifice everything, & not only for them who are misbehaved in other sects. Even if I could not get room in Amritsar, may not get a room in Fatehgarh sahib, but still I am a devoted follower of the Gurus. I will respect all the Gurus and all the martyrs in the way of Gurus from the depth of my heart, who saved my "dharma"- you can say it Sikhism or Hinduism or any other name. The savers are Sikhs. I shall drop some tears at the shrine of bold sons of Sri Dashmeshji, on the shrine of the respected Mother at Fatehgarh.

I am ready to suffer any punishment if am wrong anywhere in this article.

My Dear Bhai Sahib ji,

Many thanks for a very touching post. It is clear that the light of the Almighty burns intensely in your heart. May the Lord always bless you so that you can continue to spread the message of peace and love to everyone around you. Who are we to make judgment upon you; you have said some very interesting things which we will think about for many days. Many thanks for sharing such noble and intense vibrations.

My sincere apologies to you for the way that you were treated by the Sewadars at the various Gurdwaras and Sarais. I feel embarrassed that these Sewadars who represent our Gurus and are undertaking the work on the Gurus' behalf have behaved in such an unSikhi way. The Gurus message is one of compassion and unfettered equality and it is clear from your message that this noble principle promoted by the Gurus is being abused in a serious way by these sewadars who are letting their prejudices tint the good name of the spotless Gurus and the honorable panth. It is a huge injustice to you and to the good name of Sikhi.

Sikhi is living according to the principles promoted by the Gurus. It is clear that by discriminating against you, the person cannot be addressed as a Sikh. As Sikhs, we must abide by the principles promoted by the Gurus; only then can we be called Sikhs. Just like the Taliban cannot call themselves Muslims, these sewadars who discriminate, cannot truly call themselves Sikhs.

Please if you allow me, please email me details of the incident when you were treated in such an unacceptable manner and I will write to the SGPC and raise awareness about this malpractice.

I accept your views on the "oneness" of humanity and the fact that Hindus and Sikhs are part of God given Dharam. In the article on Bhagat Puran Singh, we have just written what this blessed soul had said in answer to a simple question by the interviewer. I accept that the text does not comply fully with principles of compassion and tolerance and accordingly, we will review this shortly.

I thank you for a very interesting and thought provoking post. Guru's blessings and warm regards, Hari Singhtalk 18:09, 5 June 2011 (EDT)
