Khalsa ji, Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh

Openness and frankness is central to Sikhi and any behaviour which is contrary to this is anti-Gurmat. I was very disturbed to learn that the century old tradition of the proper and smooth running of the Akal Takhat has been substantially altered without any debate or dialogue with the global Sikh sangat (community); this surely is not the way of the Khalsa.

We will strive to uphold the values enshrined in the Sri Guru Granth Sahib as we believe that is the only real source of inspiration for a better humanity and a better world; which after all is what is important to a Sikh. Guru mahar karan. Regards, Hari Singhtalk 12:42, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

Gur fateh ji

Gur Fateh Hari Singh ji, Your points are thought provoking and correct. It is our responsibility however as Sikh's to advocate for change. Calling out those who assault those ideals and tenants we stand for is a requirement as ambassadors of this wonderful community. Thank you for your resilient efforts through SikhiWiki. -- ggsacademy.com

Thank you

Khalsa ji, Guru dee fateh

Many thanks for your kind words; I agree that as Sikhs we need to work for positive change in the world and for the protection of the principles of righteousness outlined in the Guru Granth. May Waheguru continue to give us the direction and strength to continue on this path. Hari Singhtalk 04:42, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

Bhai sahib ji, Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh

Many thanks for your message and for the additional work you had to do in reverting this page. Under the circumstances, I have locked this page in its present state (with your amendments) so that no more changes can be done without admin intervention. I am sorry about this but please feel free to add to the discussion page and I will then make the necessary amendments after due diligence.

I know that you have made many neutral and sensible additions to the page and I do wish for this to continue as I feel it is important for a fair and level picture to be given to the world about a person who has a very positive past record and has made a huge contribution to the panth over a very long period.

Unfortunately, we do not have the resources at Sikhiwiki to monitor these pages on a constant basis. However, if this new arrangement becomes awkward to implement changes in the future, we may use a shadow page (which would be a sub-page under your user page) to make it easier for you to amend or add to that page and then I would copy that over to this protected page. Please let me know how you feel. Guru dee fateh, Hari Singhtalk 19:05, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

My Guru is God only

My Guru is god only who give knowledge not to HUMANS only but to whole species of land.

Now tell me one thing please why to put article of such controversial person?
If you want me to Take knowledge of baba Ram Rai then i do not want that. Thankyou.
secondly if you promote Sri Chand as gurmukh then i do not support that too.
So i was saying that the article is not neutral but cleverly written, without displaying everything straightly, not even diplomatically.
and Sikhiwiki people does not believe in Akal Takhat, they believe in Harbhajan Singh Yogi so they have no problem in promoting this article as Darshan Singh ji is nothing more then Harbhajan Singh Yogi.

I have no problem in that, preach darshan singh. No comments from my side now.

Khalsa ji, Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh

Many thanks for your email and the request for the letters from the Jathedars to be added to the above page.

Veer ji, this site is primarily a site to spread the teachings of the Gurus and Sikh history which is connected to these teachings. We are not a political site and therefore I am reluctant to step into this dangerous arena which has completely consumed the majority of the world.

The global community is interested in Sikhi not because of the internal wrangling within our faith but because of the purity and sweetness of Gurbani; they too wish to drink this nectar; who will provide this opportunity to them if all the Sikhs are involved in their internal political chess games? If you scan the net, you will find many hundreds of Sikhi sites dedicated to the politics of Punjab and India;

With respect and very humbly, with the Lord's nadar, we have a hit rate of over 1.1 million on this website from just a 1000 in 2005; I wish for even more people to visit this website and learn about our marvellous Gurus. The mission will not be done until a majority of the world know about Guru nank's message!

The Guru says: -

Jan Nĝnak ṯis balihĝrṇai jo ĝp japai avrĝ nĝm japĝ▫e. (2)
Servant Nanak is a sacrifice to one who himself chants the Naam, and inspires others to chant it as well. (2)

I wish to have the blessing of Guru Nanak and somehow I don't think that moving into this dark domain of Punjabi politic will bring me near to Guru Nanak; in fact I think it will do the complete opposite.

However, I am grateful for your comments and suggestions but I hope you will excuse me at this stage; I will review what you say in the next few weeks, look at the shadow page and also get feedback from other enlightened Gursikhs as well.

Please do work on the shadow page - I have set it up as a copy of the present state of the main page under my user page here: Professor Darshan Singh Khalsa (shadow page)

Please try this out and let me know how you get on and any further suggestions. Many thanks and kind regards, Hari Singhtalk 00:22, 22 October 2010 (EDT)

Authority of Akal Takhat

Veerji, Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh

Many thanks for your message and the link to a most enlightening lecture about the way the jathedar at the Akal Takhat is chosen; it was a real eye opener. I hope to prepare several articles on this so that the whole of our community can be familiar with the way the post is manipulated by the politicians. I did have a hunch but due to the lack of in-depth knowledge of the system in Punjab did not fully appreciate the situation.

You have done me a great favour in directing me to this talk which explains in clear terms the mechanics involved where the jathedar is "propped up" by the political party! What a shame! This is a complete injustice to the position of Akal Takhat.

One of the problem that we in the west face is understanding how the political system works in Punjab and how it inter-relates to the position of the Akal Takhat. I am thankful to you and the organisers of the camp in presenting, for the first time in clear language and by a person who has first hand knowledge of the situation, the grim details of this unjust system. It is our duty now to make sure that this farce of a system is highlighted so that the global sangat can understand the reality.

I wonder if there is any background written material in English if possible about the way this system is set-up and how it functions. The reason I ask is the in preparing for the articles on SikhiWiki, I would like to quote that, for example 170 members are elected on a political ticket; then how the SGPC is formed and the type of people who are elected; the point about alcohol being distributed for votes, etc, etc. may be in some of the papers.

Also, if you know of any more material - please point me to any such other lectures in Punjabi (or English) about this topic as I am on a learning curve and the more I listen and read the better as it will be a controversial topic and so I need to be well prepared.

Thanks again, Guru dee fateh, Hari Singhtalk 18:22, 22 October 2010 (EDT)
