BhatraSikhRoudhs ji, Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh

Welcome to SikhiWiki.

Many thanks for your contributions to this site. It appears we may both be from the UK? I am based in Ilford; which part of UK are you based?

I have also looked at your article entitled "Roudh" and find it a little surprising. Could you please support the statement that you make on the page as I have not come across this sort of link from Punjab to Europe going back to pre Sikhi days. If this can be supported, it will throw very interesting light on pre Sikhi history. Thanks and regards, Hari Singhtalk 00:00, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Welcome

SSA, Thanks for your contribution which you seem to be expanding. Since , Indians of Alexander's time believed that all are वासढ़देवाय कढ़टढ़मढ़बकम ‘vasudevaih kutumbakam’ and ईसा वासढ़यो मिदं सरढ़वं ‘isa vaasyo midam sarvam’ (meaning we are all God’s family and God is in everyone and everywhere respectively). [1] Alexander's claims of Godhood didn't offend Indians. The old sanskrit quote above is very much in keeping with the teachings of Guru Nanak and totally opposed to Islamic teaching, hence the turmoil in India to convert everyone to the God is out there in heaven (Islamic, Christianity, Judeo beliefs).

Also any articles on Seleucus Nicator might be helpful, for one see the wikipedia page on him [2]. Many of his troops did intermarry and stay in what we call today Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India (most of which were once part of India (the Swat valley that has just been freed from the taleban, was once part of India under Ashok it was known as Suvastu. (hence the Pakistani fear of India doing anything in Afghanistan) It is also likely that the Greeks also used the names of their Isle or villages as part of their names, the same custom seen today in India and the rest of the world. The now famous photo of a young girl on Nat Geo with green eyes and this recent picture of children in Lahore,

Gypsie children in Lahore 2009 / Dawn

seem to support your thesis. Of course this photo from Dawn.com, could be one of Gypsie children who returned to Punjab from England to pick trash as the photo was captioned? Many pictures of the Paktoons from FATA in the IDP camps also seem to be Greek descendants. The Gypsies who were thought to have come to Europe from Egypt (hence the gyp in the name) seem to have migrated out of India. Also some think that people migrated from India to Greece further back in time and that Greek and Latin are derived from Sanskrit.

Again welcome. Allenwalla 15:30, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
