The following are some tests taken by Guru Nanak Dev ji while giving Gaddi to next guru or for finding next guru:
1)One day Bhai Buddha, Bhai Ajita, bhai Sadharan, Bhai Baghirath planned to go to River Ravi with Guru Nanak. At that time there was winter season, cool breeze, bank of river all these followers start shivering due to cold and planned to went back. When they were coming back to Dharamsaal it starts raining with hailstones. With difficult they reached to dharamsaal. But Bhai Lehna(Guru Angad Dev) remain sitting there with Guru Nanak Ji.
2)One day the wall of dharamsaal falls down in stromy rainy night. Bhai Lehna stood under the roof by keeping his hands on roof so that roof do not fall and not shown all this to guru jee.
3)Another day of rainy and stromy season the wall of Guru nanak's drawing room fell down. Guru Nanak said to his sons to made the wall again, but sons refused as due to night and rainy season. They replied that in morning they would call workers to again made the wall. Guru Nanak said to other sikhs to make the wall. But other also refused. bhai Lehna came and stated making the wall. He made a slanted wall by mistake Guru nanak said to make it again and bhai lehna again destroy the wall and started making the wall. 4 to 5 times this happen. Mata Sulakhni said "Bhai Lehna! He is careless(Beparvah), and know you also?. Bhai Lehna Replaied that i just want to serve the guru, Server want to make her body pure by serving the lord, its nothing about making.
4)One day in night Guru nanak suddenly stood up and said "See its late morning. Go wash and bring my clothes. Sons replies that you are old so you donot feel sleepy let us sleep we will get them wash in morning. Tod the same to other sikhs, Bhai Buddha replied this is midniight i know well about the stars and night. Guru Nanak Said to Baba Lehna, he watched out and replied Oh yes Baba Ji its late morning, you are right. He take away Guru's clothes and washed them and made them dry. Its said that Bhai Lehna at that time viewed the Noon Sun.
5)A cat did poty on floor and killed rat and threw there. Guru Nanak je said to Sri Chand to take this both and threw away. Sri chand replied i am not the chuhra. Lakhmi Chand replies "You are out of your mind. The son of great personality like you cant do these things". Bhai lehna Came and clean the floor.
6)Guru nanak had a Bowl of stone of Sucha Sulemani. He put curd in it and went to well for bath. All followers and sond were with him. He throw bowl in chabacha containing mud. He told sons to bring it out they replied that by giving money to some worker they will get it, they also said that they cant enter in bad mud(Chikad), they even get hurt. Other disciples replied that Young Sehabzadas are right. bhai Lehna Jumped in Chubacha brought the bowl and wash it and handover to Guru ji.
