Would someone translate - Kanara is a putra of Dipak. (son of Dipak)?
Just to add a little more to what Sarbjeet has said: The Ragmala at the end of the Guru Granth Sahib is a composition all about Raags. 6 main raags are mentioned here: Bhairao, Malkaus, Hindol, Deepak, Sri and Megh. These six have "wives" and "sons" which are given below. At number (4) you see that Kanra or Kanara is a "son" of Deepak.

Wives: Bhairavi, Bilawali, Punyaki, Bangli, Aslekhi.
Sons: Pancham, Harakh, Disakh, Bangalam, Maadh, Madhava, Lalat, Bilaval.
- (2) Malkaus raga
Wives: Gaundkari, Devagandhari, Gandhari, Seehute, Dhanasri.
Sons: Maru, Maastang, Maawara, Parbalchand, Kausak, Khoh, Khat, Bhoranad.
- (3) Hindol raga
Wives: Telangi, Devkari, Basanti, Sindhoori, Aheeri.
Sons: Surmanand, Bhasker, Chandra-Bimb, Mangalan, Saras-baan, Binoda, Basant, Kamoda.

Wives: Bairare, Karnati, Gavri, Asavari, Sindhve.
