A 24-year-old Sikh girl was killed, her father has been charged with her murder.

Amrit Kaur Ubhi a Wolverhampton University student was found dead in her family home in Telford.

The well loved young girl was understood to have had a long term relationship with a young man form the Armed Forces. It is not clear what the motives for the murder were.

Friends describe Amrit as an “absolutely lovely” person. She worked at Monsoon, which had to have relief workers when her colleagues were told of her death.

53-year-old a Gurmeet Singh Ubhi, of Berberis Road, Leegomery, spoke only to confirm his name when he appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court this month; charged with the murder of Amrit Kaur Ubhi.

Mrs Joanne Barker, prosecuting, said: “This case involves one allegation in due course of murder, sent by the lower court on September 10.”

The case was adjourned until November 16 for a plea and case management hearing at a court to be fixed and Ubhi was remanded in custody.

Miss Ubhi’s body was discovered at the family home in Berberis Road on September 7.
