Shyam is another name for God. It was attributed to Lord Krishna of yasoda as one of his names. Shyam Sundar.

The name Shyam as a poet appears in the Sri Dasam Granth 113 as a poet it is believed by Bhai Vir Singh in 1955 that this is Guru Gobind Singh using a pen name (nickname) of his own as both Gobind and Shyam were names for Lord Krishan and both mean God. Shyam means beautiful Gobind means Master of the Universe.
