Sandhu

Sandhu[1] (Punjabi: ਸੰਧੂ) is a second largest clan as well as surname of Sansi Rajput Jatt people of Punjab. The largest clan is Sidhu-Brar. It's member mainly lives in Punjab region (East Punjab and West Punjab) and also abroad as they migrated overseas. As of 1881 census, there were 135732 Sandhus.[1][2]

The Hindu Sandhu Sansi Rajput Jatts of Bar region, converted to Islam, while the Hindu Sandhu Sansi Rajput Jatts, of Majha region, converted to Sikhism. Muslim Sandhu Sansi Rajput Jatts were mainly found in Sialkot, Gujranwala, Shiekhupura, Lyallpur, districts of the Bar, while the Sikh Sandhu Sansi Rajput Jatts, were found in, great large numbers in Amritsar, Lahore, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Hoshiarpur, districts of Majha, Doaba, and Malva.
