Salok Sahaskriti Mehla Pehla (ਸਲੋਕ ਸਹਸਕ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧) is a collection of four Shaloks written by Guru Nanak Dev.

  • This Salok is present in Guru Granth Sahib on page 1353 started from line six upto line 15.
  • These couplets do not rhyme (A rhyme is a repetition of identical or similar sounds in two or more different words and is most often used in poetry) as Sahaskriti couplets do not rhyme.
  • It is believed that Pundits came to Guru Nanak at Kashi but same is not mentioned in poetry which indicated that history is not important thing to research here.
  • The bani starts from Mool Mantar (The meanings of The One)
  • Guru Arjun Dev also wrote salokhs in Sahaskriti style known as Shalok Sehskritee Mehla Panjvan.
  • This Salok stress on following Points:
    * Discovering Brahm (The Inner Soul)
    * Fakeness of Religious figures.
    * Concept of Sabad
    * God grace is important fact to survive in the world fruitfully.
    * Sing lord praises as all Deities, Avtars, Prophets, Peers bow before the bhagats.
    * Presence of God and his power

Salok 1

  • The Shalok is against so called religious figures:
    * Religious figures who do multiple meanings of Vedas(Shastrath) and quarrel with each other on Manmati meanings
    * Religious figures who Worship Idols
    * Religious figures who ask for donation of gold and other materials by speaking lies
    * Religious figures who meditate, closing eyes like Crane
    * Religious figures scares from Spiritual discourses
    * Religious figures who have Traipal (Three lines on forehead), mostly shaivites
    * Religious figures who wear Mala (beads) in neck.
    * Religious figures who put Tika (or Tilaka decorative/religious red mark) on the forehead.
    * Religious figures who wear turban or head gears on head.
    but if one does not know the about Brahm and find the way to make brahm happy above all are fake rituals and deeds. THIS IS DIRECT ATTACK TO HINDU RELIGION, BUT IF SIKHS ARE ALSO WALKING ON SAME PATH THEN THIS ALSO APPLICABLE TO THEM i.e IF THEY WEAR KHALSA UNIFORM BUT DO NOT KNOW ABOUT ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰ ਕਰਮੰ THEN ALL RITUALS THEY PERFORM HAVE NO MEANING i.e
  • Also explains difference of Nischai vs. Shardha. Nishchai is having open eyed faith where Shardha is close eyed faith.

Salok 2

  • The Mann(Mind) is under control of soul, if soul wants he can loose his control of mind and in opposite if soul wants it can takes spiritual wisdom and can tighten the control of his mind so that mind does not goes here or there. Once Mind comes in control of Soul, the Soul can cross worldly ocean
