ਪਾਗੜਦੀ ਪਰਹਸਤ ਪਠਿਯੋ ਦਾਗੜਦੀ ਦੈਕੈ ਦਲ ਅਨਗਨ ॥ ਕਾਗੜਦੀ ਕੰਪ ਭੂਅ ਉਠੀ ਬਾਗੜਦੀ ਬਾਜੀਯ ਖਰੀਅਨ ਤਨ ॥ पागड़दी पढ़रहसत पठियो दागड़दी दैकै दल अनगन ॥ कागड़दी कढ़मप भूअ उठी बागड़दी बाजीय खढ़रीअन तन ॥ Then Ravana sent innumerable soldiers with Prahasta for waging the war and the earth trembled under the impact of horses hoofs.
ਨਾਗੜਦੀ ਨੀਲ ਤਿਹ ਝਿਣਿਯੋ ਭਾਗੜਦੀ ਗਹਿ ਭੂਮਿ ਪਛਾੜੀਅ ॥ਸਾਗੜਦੀ ਸਮਰਿ ਹਾਹਾਕਾਰ ਦਾਗੜਦੀ ਦਾਨਵ ਦਲ ਭਾਰੀਅ ॥ नागड़दी नील तिह झिणियो भागड़दी गहि भूमि पछाड़ीअ ॥सागड़दी समरि हाहाकार दागड़दी दानव दल भारीअ ॥ Neel entangled himself with him and threw him on the ground and there was great lamentation in the demon forces.
ਘੰਘਾਗੜਦੀ ਘਾਇ ਭਕਭਕ ਕਰਤ ਰਾਗੜਦੀ ਰਹਿਰ ਰਣ ਰੰਗ ਬਹਿ ॥ਜੰਜਾਗੜਦੀ ਜੈਯ ਜੱਗਣ ਜਪੈ ਕਾਗੜਦੀ ਕਾਕ ਕਰਕਹ ਕਕਹ ॥੩੯੪॥ घंघागड़दी घाइ भकभक करत रागड़दी रढ़हिर रण रंग बहि ॥जंजागड़दी जैय जढ़ढ़गण जपै कागड़दी काक करकह ककह ॥३९४॥ The wounds were inflicted from which the blood oozed out and flowed. The gatherings of Yoginis began to recite (their mantras) and the cawing of the crows was heard.394.
ਪਾਗੜਦੀ ਪਰਹਸਤ ਜਝੰਤ ਲਾਗੜਦੀ ਲੈ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਅਪ ਦਲ ॥ ਭਾਗੜਦੀ ਭੂਮਿ ਭੜਹੜੀ ਕਾਗੜਦੀ ਕੰਪੀ ਦੋਈ ਜਲ ਥਲ ॥ पागड़दी पढ़रहसत जढ़झंत लागड़दी लै चलियो अप दल ॥ भागड़दी भूमि भड़हड़ी कागड़दी कढ़मपी दोई जल थल ॥ Fighting very bravely alongwith his forces, Prahasta advance forward and with his movement the earth and the water felt a sensation;
ਨਾਗੜਦੀ ਨਾਦ ਨਿੱਹ ਨੱਦ ਭਾਗੜਦੀ ਰਣ ਭੇਰਿ ਭਯੰਕਰ ॥ ਸਾਗੜਦੀ ਸਾਂਗ ਝਲਹਲਤ ਚਾਗੜਦੀ ਚਮਕੰਤ ਚਲਤ ਸਰ ॥ नागड़दी नाद निढ़ह नढ़द भागड़दी रण भेरि भयंकर ॥ सागड़दी सांग झलहलत चागड़दी चमकंत चलत सर ॥ There was dreadful sound and the dreadful resonance of drums was heard; the lances glittered and the shining arrows were discharged;
ਖੰਖਾਗੜਦੀ ਖੇਤਿ ਖੜਗ ਖਿਮਕਤ ਖਹਤ ਚਾਗੜਦੀ ਚਟਕ ਚਿਨਗੈਂ ਕਢੈ ॥ਠੰਠਾਗੜਦੀ ਠਾਟ ਠਟਕਰ ਮਨੋ ਠਾਗੜਦੀ ਠਣਕ ਠਠਿਅਰ ਗਢੈ ॥੩੯੫॥ खंखागड़दी खेति खड़ग खिमकत खहत चागड़दी चटक चिनगैं कढै ॥ठंठागड़दी ठाट ठटकर मनो ठागड़दी ठणक ठठिअर गढै ॥३९५॥ There was rattling of spears and with their blows on the shields the sparks arose; such a knocking sound was heard the sparks arose; such a knocking sound was heard as though a tinker was fashioning a utensil.395.
ਢਾਗੜਦੀ ਢਾਲ ਉਛਲਹਿ ਬਾਗੜਦੀ ਰਣਿ ਬੀਰ ਬਬੱਕਹਿ ॥ ਆਗੜਦੀ ਇਕ ਲੈ ਚਲੈਂ ਇਕ ਕਹ ਇਕ ਉਚੱਕਹਿ ॥ ढागड़दी ढाल उछलहि बागड़दी रणि बीर बबढ़कहि ॥ आगड़दी इक लै चलैं इक कहढ़ इक उचढ़कहि ॥ The shields sprang up and the warriors began to shout at each other with one tone; the weapons were struck and they rose high and then fell down.
ਤਾਗੜਦੀ ਤਾਲ ਤੰਬੂਰੰ ਬਾਗੜਦੀ ਰਣਿ ਬੀਨ ਸ ਬੱਜੈ ॥ ਸਾਗੜਦੀ ਸੰਖ ਕੇ ਸਬਦ ਗਾਗੜਦੀ ਗੈਵਰ ਗਲ ਗੱਜੈ ॥ तागड़दी ताल तढ़मबूरं बागड़दी रणि बीन सढ़ बढ़जै ॥ सागड़दी संख के सबद गागड़दी गैवर गल गढ़जै ॥ It appeared that the stringed musical instruments and lyers were played in one tune; the sound of the conches thundered all around;
ਧੰਧਾਗੜਦੀ ਧਰਣਿ ਧੜ ਧਕਿ ਪਰਤ ਚਾਗੜਦੀ ਚਕਤ ਚਿਤ ਮਹਿ ਅਮਰ ॥ਪੰਪਾਗੜਦੀ ਪਹਪ ਬਰਖਾ ਕਰਤ ਜਾਗੜਦੀ ਜੱਛ ਗੰਧਰਬ ਬਰ ॥੩੯੬॥ धंधागड़दी धरणि धड़ धढ़कि परत चागड़दी चकत चित महि अमर ॥पढ़मपागड़दी पढ़हप बरखा करत जागड़दी जढ़छ गंधढ़रब बर ॥३९६॥ The heart of he beat and seeing the dreadfulness of war the gods also wondered and the Yakshas, Gandharvas etc. began to shower flowers.396.
ਝਾਗੜਦੀ ਝੱਝ ਭਟ ਗਿਰੈਂ ਮਾਗੜਦੀ ਮਖ ਮਾਰ ਉਚਾਰੈ ॥ ਸਾਗੜਦੀ ਸੰਜ ਪੰਜਰੇ ਘਾਘੜਦੀ ਘਣੀਅਰ ਜਣ ਕਾਰੈ ॥ झागड़दी झढ़ढ़झ भट गिरैं मागड़दी मढ़ख मार उचारै ॥ सागड़दी संज पंजरे घाघड़दी घणीअर जणढ़ कारै ॥ The warriors even falling down began to shout "Kill, Kill" from their mouths; wearing their gauzy armours they appeared like the waving dark clouds;
ਤਾਗੜਦੀ ਤੀਰ ਬਰਖੰਤ ਗਾਗੜਦੀ ਗਹਿ ਗਦਾ ਗਰਿਸਟੰ ॥ ਮਾਗੜਦੀ ਮੰਤਰ ਮਖ ਜਪੈ ਆਗੜਦੀ ਅੱਛਰ ਬਰ ਇਸਟੰ ॥ तागड़दी तीर बरखंत गागड़दी गहि गदा गरिसटं ॥ मागड़दी मंतढ़र मढ़ख जपै आगड़दी अछर बर इसटं ॥ There was shower of maces and arrows and the heavenly damsels began to recite mantras in order to wed their dear warriors.
ਸੰਸਾਗੜਦੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਵ ਸਿਮਰ ਕਰ ਜਾਗੜਦੀ ਜੂਝ ਜੋਧਾ ਮਰਤ ॥ਸੰਸਾਗੜਦੀ ਸਭਟ ਸਨਮਖ ਗਿਰਤ ਆਗੜਦੀ ਅਪੱਛਰਨ ਕਹ ਬਰਤ ੩੯੭॥ संसागड़दी सदा सिव सिमर कर जागड़दी जूझ जोधा मरत ॥संसागड़दी सढ़भट सनमढ़ख गिरत आगड़दी अपढ़छरन कह बरत ३९७॥ The heroes remembered Shiva and died while fighting and on their falling down the heavenly damsels advanced to wed them.397.
ਭਜੰਗ ਪਰਯਾਤ ਛੰਦ ॥ भढ़जंग पढ़रयात छंद ॥ BHUJANG PRAYAAT STANZA
ਇਤੈ ਉੱਚਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਲੰਕੇਸਿ ਬੈਣੰ ॥ ਉਤੈ ਦੇਵ ਦੇਖੈ ਚੜੈ ਰਥ ਗੈਣੰ ॥ इतै उचरे राम लंकेसि बैणं ॥ उतै देव देखै चड़ै रथ गैणं ॥ On this side there is dialogue between Ram and Ravana and on the other side the gods mounted on their chariots in the sky are looking at this scene.
ਕਹੋ ਝਕ ਝਕੰ ਅਨੇਕੰ ਪਰਕਾਰੰ ॥ ਮਿਲੇ ਜੱਧ ਜੇਤੇ ਸਮੰਤੰ ਲੱਝਾਰੰ ॥੩੯੮॥ कहो झक झकं अनेकं पढ़रकारं ॥ मिले जढ़ढ़ध जेते समंतं लढ़ढ़झारं ॥३९८॥ All those warriors who are fighting in the battlefield, they can be described one by one in various ways.398.
ਬਭੀਛਣ ਬਾਚ ਰਾਮ ਸੋ ॥ बभीछण बाच राम सो ॥ Speech of Vibhishana addressed to Ram :
ਧਨੰ ਮੰਡਲਾਕਾਰ ਜਾਕੋ ਬਿਰਾਜੈ ॥ ਸਿਰੰ ਜੈਤਪਤਰੰ ਸਿਤੰ ਛੱਤਰ ਛਾਜੈ ॥ धनढ़ं मंडलाकार जाको बिराजै ॥ सिरं जैतपतढ़रं सितं छढ़तढ़र छाजै ॥ He, who has the spherical bow and on whose head the white canopy is rotating like a letter of victory;
ਰਥੰ ਬਿਸਟਤੰ ਬਿਯਾਘਰ ਚਰਮੰ ਅਭੀਤੰ ॥ ਤਿਸੈ ਨਾਥ ਜਾਨੋ ਹਠੀ ਇੰਦਰ ਜੀਤੰ ॥੩੯੯॥ रथं बिसटतं बियाघढ़र चरमं अभीतं ॥ तिसै नाथ जानो हठी इंदढ़र जीतं ॥३९९॥ And who is sitting on the lion-skin fearlessly in the chariot, O Lord, he is the persistent Inderjit (Meghand).399.
ਨਹੈ ਪਿੰਗ ਬਾਜੀ ਰਥੰ ਜੇਨ ਸੋਭੈਂ ॥ ਮਹਾਂ ਕਾਇ ਪੇਖੇ ਸਭੈ ਦੇਵ ਛੋਭੈਂ ॥ नहै पिंग बाजी रथं जेन सोभैं ॥ महां काइ पेखे सभै देव छोभैं ॥ He, with whose chariot there are brown horses and seeing whose broad body even the gods become fearful;
ਹਰੇ ਸਰਬ ਗਰਬੰ ਧਨੰਪਾਲ ਦੇਵੰ ॥ ਮਹਾਂ ਕਾਇ ਨਾਮਾ ਮਹਾਂਬੀਰ ਜੇਵੰ ॥੪੦੦॥ हरे सरब गरबं धनढ़मपाल देवं ॥ महां काइ नामा महांबीर जेवं ॥४००॥ And who has mashed the pride of all the gods, he is known as broad-bodies Kumbhkaran.400.
ਲਗੇ ਮਯੂਰ ਬਰਣੰ ਰਥੰ ਜੇਨ ਬਾਜੀ ॥ ਬਕੈ ਮਾਰ ਮਾਰੰ ਤਜੈ ਬਾਣ ਰਾਜੀ लगे मयूर बरणं रथं जेन बाजी ॥ बकै मार मारं तजै बाण राजी The chariot with which the peacock-coloured horses are harnessed and who is showering arrows alongwith his shouts of "Kill, Kill",
ਮਹਾਂ ਜੱਧ ਕੋ ਕਰ ਮਹੋਦਰ ਬਖਾਨੋ ॥ ਤਿਸੈ ਜੱਧ ਕਰਤਾ ਬਡੋ ਰਾਮ ਜਾਨੋ ॥੪੦੧॥ महां जढ़ढ़ध को कर महोदर बखानो ॥ तिसै जढ़ढ़ध करता बडो राम जानो ॥४०१॥ O Ram ! his name is Mahodar and should be considered a very great warrior.401.
ਲਗੇ ਮਖਕੰ ਬਰਣ ਬਾਜੀ ਰਥੇਸੰ ॥ ਹਸੈ ਪਉਨ ਕੇ ਗਉਨ ਕੋ ਚਾਰ ਦੇਸੰ ॥ लगे मढ़खकं बरण बाजी रथेसं ॥ हसै पउन के गउन को चार देसं ॥ The chariot with which the white horses like the face are harnessed, and who, in gait, put the wind to shame;
ਧਰੇ ਬਾਣ ਪਾਣੰ ਕਿਧੌ ਕਾਲ ਰੂਪੰ ॥ ਤਿਸੈ ਰਾਮ ਜਾਨੋ ਸਹੀ ਦਈਤ ਭੂਪੰ ॥੪੦੨॥ धरे बाण पाणं किधौ काल रूपं ॥ तिसै राम जानो सही दईत भूपं ॥४०२॥ And who seems like death (KAL), catching hold of his arrows in his hand, O Ram ! consider him as Ravana, the king of demons.402.
ਫਿਰੈ ਮੋਰ ਪੱਛੰ ਢਰੈ ਚਉਰ ਚਾਰੰ ॥ ਰੜੈ ਕਿੱਤ ਬੰਦੀ ਅਨੰਤੰ ਅਪਾਰੰ ॥ फिरै मोर पढ़ढ़छं ढढ़रै चउर चारं ॥ रड़ै किढ़त बंदी अनंतं अपारं ॥ He, on whom the fly-whisk of the feathers of a peacock is being waved and before whom many people many people are standing in the posture of salutation;
ਰਥੰ ਸਵਰਣ ਕੀ ਕਿੰਕਣੀ ਚਾਰ ਸੋਹੈ ॥ ਲਖੇ ਦੇਵ ਕੰਨਿਆ ਮਹਾਂ ਤੇਜ ਮੋਹੈ ॥੪੦੩॥ रथं सढ़वरण की किंकणी चार सोहै ॥ लखे देव कंनिआ महां तेज मोहै ॥४०३॥ He whose chariot the small bells of gold seem impressive and seeing whom the daughter of gods are getting enamoured.403.
ਛਕੈ ਮੱਧ ਜਾਕੀ ਧਜਾ ਸਾਰਦੂਲੰ ॥ ਇਹੈ ਦਈਤ ਰਾਜੰ ਦਰੰ ਦਰੋਹ ਮੂਲੰ ॥ छकै मढ़ध जाकी धढ़जा सारदूलं ॥ इहै दईत राजं दढ़रं दढ़रोह मूलं ॥ In the centre of whose banner there is the sign of a lion, he is Ravana, the king of demons and has ill-will for Ram in his mind;
ਲਸੈ ਕਰੀਟ ਸੀਸੰ ਕਸੈ ਚੰਦਰ ਭਾ ਕੋ ॥ ਰਮਾ ਨਾਥ ਚੀਨੋ ਦਸੰ ਗਰੀਵ ਤਾਕੋ ॥੪੦੪॥ लसै कढ़रीट सीसं कसै चंदढ़र भा को ॥ रमा नाथ चीनो दसं गढ़रीव ताको ॥४०४॥ He on whose crown there are the moon and the sun, O all-filling Lord ! Recognise him, is the ten-headed Ravana.404.
ਦਹੂੰ ਓਰਿ ਬੱਜੇ ਬਜੰਤਰੰ ਅਪਾਰੰ ॥ ਮਚੇ ਸੂਰਬੀਰੰ ਮਹਾਂ ਸਸਤਰ ਧਾਰੰ ॥ दढ़हूं ओरि बढ़जे बजंतढ़रं अपारं ॥ मचे सूरबीरं महां ससतढ़र धारं ॥ Many instruments began to resound form both sides and the warriors began to shower the current of great weapons.
ਕਰੈ ਅੱਤਰ ਪਾਤੰ ਨਿਪਾਤੰਤ ਸੂਰੰ ॥ ਉਠੇ ਮੱਧ ਜੱਧੰ ਕਮੱਧੰ ਕਰੂਰੰ ॥੪੦੫॥ करै अतढ़र पातं निपातंत सूरं ॥ उठे मढ़ध जढ़ढ़धं कमढ़धं करूरं ॥४०५॥ The arms were struck and the warriors fell and in this war the terrible headless trunks arose and moved.405
ਗਿਰੈ ਰੰਡ ਮੰਡੰ ਭਸੰਡੰ ਅਪਾਰੰ ॥ ਰਲੇ ਅੰਗ ਭੰਗੰ ਸਮੰਤੰ ਲਝਾਰੰ ॥ गिरै रढ़ंड मढ़ंडं भसढ़ंडं अपारं ॥ रढ़ले अंग भंगं समंतं लढ़झारं ॥ The trunks, the heads and the trunks of elephants began to fall, and the chopped limas of the groups of warriors rolled in dust;
ਪਰੀ ਕੂਹ ਜੂਹੰ ਉਠੇ ਗੱਦ ਸੱਦੰ ॥ ਜਕੈ ਸੂਰਬੀਰੰ ਛਕੇ ਜਾਣ ਮੱਦੰ ॥੪੦੬॥ परी कूह जूहं उठे गढ़द सढ़दं ॥ जकै सूरबीरं छके जाण मढ़दं ॥४०६॥ There were terrible and shouts in the battlefield and it appeared tehat having been intoxicated the warriors were swinging.406.
ਗਿਰੇ ਝੂਮਿ ਭੂਮੰ ਅਘੂਮੇਤਿ ਘਾਯੰ ॥ ਉਠੇ ਗੱਦ ਸੱਦੰ ਚੜੇ ਚਉਪ ਚਾਯੰ ॥ गिरे झूमि भूमं अघूमेति घायं ॥ उठे गढ़द सढ़दं चड़े चउप चायं ॥ The wounded groups of warriors are swinging and being bewildered on falling on the earth and with double zeal they are getting up and striking with their maces.
ਜਝੇ ਬੀਰ ਝਕੰ ਅਨੇਕੰ ਪਰਕਾਰੰ ॥ ਕਟੇ ਅੰਗ ਜੰਗੰ ਰਟੈਂ ਮਾਰ ਮਾਰੰ ॥੪੦੭॥ जढ़झे बीर झकं अनेकं पढ़रकारं ॥ कटे अंग जंगं रटैं मार मारं ॥४०७॥ The warriors have begun the war in many way, the chopped limbs are falling, even then the warriors are shouting "Kill, Kill".407.
ਛਟੈ ਬਾਣ ਪਾਣੰ ਉਠੈਂ ਗੱਦ ਸੱਦੰ ॥ ਰਲੇ ਝੂਮਿ ਭੂਮੰ ਸ ਬੀਰੰ ਬਿਹੱਦੰ ॥ छढ़टै बाण पाणं उठैं गढ़द सढ़दं ॥ रढ़ले झूमि भूमं सढ़ बीरं बिहढ़दं ॥ A dreadful sound is created with the discharge of arrows and the large-bodies warriors` fall on the ground while swinging;
ਨਚੇ ਜੰਗ ਰੰਗੰ ਤਤੱਥਈ ਤਤੱਥਿਯੰ ॥ ਛਟੈ ਬਾਣ ਰਾਜੀ ਫਿਰੈ ਛੂਛ ਹੱਥਿਯੰ ॥੪੦੮॥ नचे जंग रंगं ततढ़थई ततढ़थियं ॥ छढ़टै बाण राजी फिरै छूछ हढ़थियं ॥४०८॥ All are dancing to the tune of music in the fighting and many are roaming hither and thither, becoming empty-handed with the discharge of arrows.408.
ਗਿਰੇ ਅੰਕਸੰ ਬਾਰਣੰ ਬੀਰ ਖੇਤੰ ॥ ਨਚੇ ਕੰਧ ਹੀਣੰ ਕਬੰਧੰ ਅਚੇਤੰ ॥ गिरे अंकढ़सं बारणं बीर खेतं ॥ नचे कंध हीणं कबंधं अचेतं ॥ The lances destroying the warriors are falling down and the unconscious headless trunks are dancing in the battlefield;
ਭਰੈਂ ਖੇਚਰੀ ਪੱਤਰ ਚਉਸਠ ਚਾਰੀ ॥ ਚਲੇ ਸਰਬ ਆਨੰਦ ਹਝ ਮਾਸਹਾਰੀ ॥੪੦੯ भरैं खेचरी पढ़तढ़र चउसठ चारी ॥ चले सरब आनंद हढ़झ मासहारी ॥४०९ The sixty-eight Yoginis have filled their bowls with blood and all the flesh-eaters are roaming with great joy 409.
ਗਿਰੇ ਬੰਕੜੇ ਬੀਰ ਬਾਜੀ ਸਦੇਸੰ ॥ ਪਰੇ ਪੀਲਵਾਨੰ ਛਟੇ ਚਾਰ ਕੇਸੰ ॥ गिरे बंकढ़ड़े बीर बाजी सढ़देसं ॥ परे पीलवानं छढ़टे चार केसं ॥ The foppish warriors and beautiful horses are falling and on the other side the drivers of elephants are lying down with their disheveled hair.
ਕਰੈ ਪੈਜ ਵਾਰੰ ਪਰਚਾਰੰਤ ਬੀਰੰ ॥ ਉਠੈ ਸਰੋਣ ਧਾਰੰ ਅਪਾਰੰ ਹਮੀਰੰ ॥੪੧੦॥ करै पैज वारं पढ़रचारंत बीरं ॥ उठै सढ़रोण धारं अपारं हमीरं ॥४१०॥ The brave fighters are striking blows on their enemy with full strength, on account of which there is continuous flow of the blood.410.
ਛਟੈਂ ਚਾਰਿ ਚਿਤਰੰ ਬਚਿਤਰੰਤ ਬਾਣੰ ॥ ਚਲੇ ਬੈਠ ਕੈ ਸੂਰਬੀਰੰ ਬਿਮਾਣੰ ॥ छढ़टैं चारि चितढ़रं बचितढ़रंत बाणं ॥ चले बैठ कै सूरबीरं बिमाणं ॥ Queer type of arrows, making beautiful paintings, are moving fastly while piercing the bodies and alongwith it the warriors are flying away in the air-vehicles of death.
ਗਿਰੇ ਬਾਰਣੰ ਬਿੱਥਰੀ ਲੱਥ ਜੱਥੰ ॥ ਖਲੇ ਸਰਗ ਦਆਰੰ ਗਝ ਵੀਰ ਅਛੱਥੰ ॥੪੧੧॥ गिरे बारढ़णं बिढ़थरी लढ़ढ़थ जढ़ढ़थं ॥ खढ़ले सढ़रग दढ़आरं गझ वीर अछढ़ढ़थं ॥४११॥ Because of the falling arrows, the clusters of corpses re lying scattered and the gates of haven have opened for the brave warriors.411.

ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਹਤ ਸੈਨਾ ਭਈ ਰਾਵਣ ਰਾਮ ਬਿਰੱਧ ॥ ਲੰਕ ਬੰਕ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਭਯੋ ਦਸਸਿਰ ਮਹਾ ਸਕਰੱਧ ॥੪੧੨॥ इह बिधि हत सैना भई रावण राम बिरढ़ढ़ध ॥ लंक बंक पढ़रापति भयो दससिर महा सकढ़रढ़ढ़ध ॥४१२॥ In this way, the army opposing Ram was killed and Ravana, sitting in the beautiful citadel of Lanka got highly infuriated.412.
ਭਜੰਗ ਪਰਯਾਤ ਛੰਦ ॥ भढ़जंग पढ़रयात छंद ॥ BHUJANG PRAYAAT STANZA
ਤਬੈ ਮੱਕਲੇ ਦੂਤ ਲੰਕੇਸ ਅੱਪੰ ॥ ਮਨੰ ਬਚ ਕਰਮੰ ਸਿਵੰ ਜਾਪ ਜਪੰ ॥ तबै मढ़ढ़कले दूत लंकेस अपं ॥ मनं बच करमं सिवं जाप जपं ॥ Then, remembering the name of Shiva through his mind, speech and action, Ranana, the king of Lanka, sent his messengers to Kumbhkaran.
ਸਭੈ ਮੰਤਰ ਹੀਣੰ ਸਮੈ ਅੰਤ ਕਾਲੰ ॥ ਭਜੋ ਝਕ ਚਿੱਤੰ ਸ ਕਾਲੰ ਕਰਿਪਾਲੰ ॥੪੧੩॥ सभै मंतढ़र हीणं समै अंत कालं ॥ भजो झक चिढ़तं सढ़ कालं कढ़रिपालं ॥४१३॥ All of them were without the strength of mantra and knowing about their impending end, they were remembering the one Beneficent Immanent Lord.413.
ਰਥੀ ਪਾਇਕੰ ਦੰਤ ਪੰਤੀ ਅਨੰਤੰ ॥ ਚਲੇ ਪੱਖਰੇ ਬਾਜ ਰਾਜੰ ਸ ਭੰਤੰ ॥ रथी पाइकं दंत पंती अनंतं ॥ चले पढ़खरे बाज राजं सढ़ भंतं ॥ The warriors on foot, on horses, on elephants and in chariots, wearing their armours, marched forward;
ਧਸੇ ਨਾਸਕਾ ਸਰੋਣ ਮੱਝੰ ਸ ਬੀਰੰ ॥ ਬੱਜੇ ਕਾਨਹਰੇ ਡੰਕ ਡਉਰੂ ਨਫੀਰੰ ॥੪੧੪॥ धसे नासका सढ़रोण मढ़झं सढ़ बीरं ॥ बढ़जे कानढ़हरे डंक डउरू नफीरं ॥४१४॥ They all penetrated into the nose and of Kumbhkaran and began to play their tabors and other musical instruments.414.
ਬਜੈ ਲਾਗ ਬਾਦੰ ਨਿਨਾਦੰਤਿ ਵੀਰੰ ॥ ਉਠੈ ਗੱਦ ਸੱਦੰ ਨਿਨੱਦੰ ਨਫੀਰੰ ॥ बजै लाग बादं निनादंति वीरं ॥ उठै गढ़द सढ़दं निनढ़दं नफीरं ॥ The warriors played their musical instruments; which resounded at high pitch.
ਭਝ ਆਕਲੰ ਬਿਆਕਲੰ ਛੋਰਿ ਭਾਗਿਅੰ ॥ ਬਲੀ ਕੰਭਕਾਨੰ ਤਊ ਨਾਹਿ ਜਾਗਿਅੰ ॥੪੧੫॥ भझ आकढ़लं बिआकलं छोरि भागिअं ॥ बली कढ़ढ़मभकानं तऊ नाहि जागिअं ॥४१५॥ All of them, like children, fled in a state of perplexity, but even then the mighty Kumbhkaran did not awake.415.
ਚਲੇ ਛਾਡਿਕੈ ਆਸ ਪਾਸੰ ਨਿਰਾਸੰ ॥ ਭਝ ਭਰਾਤ ਕੇ ਜਾਗਬੇ ਤੇ ਉਦਾਸੰ ॥ चले छाडिकै आस पासं निरासं ॥ भझ भढ़रात के जागबे ते उदासं ॥ Finding themselves helpless in not being able to awaken Kumbhkaran, all of them felt disappointed and started going away and become anxious on becoming unsuccessful in their endeavour;
ਤਬੈ ਦੇਵਕੰਨਿਆ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਨੰ ॥ ਉਠਿਯੋ ਦੇਵ ਦੋਖੀ ਗਦਾ ਲੀਸ ਪਾਨੰ ॥੪੧੬॥ तबै देवकंनिआ करियो गीत गानं ॥ उठियो देव दोखी गदा लीस पानं ॥४१६॥ Then the daughters of gods i.e. Kumbhkaran awoke and took his mace in his hand.416.
ਕਰੋ ਲੰਕ ਦੇਸੰ ਪਰਵੇਸੰਤਿ ਸੂਰੰ ॥ ਬਲੀ ਬੀਸ ਬਾਹੰ ਮਹਾਂ ਸਸਤਰ ਪੂਰੰ ॥ करो लंक देसं पढ़रवेसंति सूरं ॥ बली बीस बाहं महां ससतढ़र पूरं ॥ That mighty warrior entered Lanka, where there was the mighty hero Ravana of twenty arms, bedecked with great weapons.
ਕਰੈ ਲਾਗ ਮੰਤਰੰ ਕਮੰਤਰੰ ਬਿਚਾਰੰ ॥ ਇਤੈ ਉਚਾਰੇ ਬੈਨ ਭਰਾਤੰ ਲਝਾਰੰ ॥੪੧੭॥ करै लाग मंतढ़रं कढ़मंतढ़रं बिचारं ॥ इतै उचारे बैन भढ़रातं लढ़झारं ॥४१७॥ They all held consultation together and talked to one another about the war.417.
ਜਲੰ ਗਾਗਰੀ ਸਪਤ ਸਾਹੰਸਰ ਪੂਰੰ ॥ ਮਖੰ ਪੱਛ ਲਯੋ ਕੰਭਕਾਨੰ ਕਰੂਰੰ ॥ जलं गागरी सपत साहंसढ़र पूरं ॥ मढ़खं पढ़ढ़छ लयो कढ़ढ़मभकानं करूरं ॥ Kumbhkaran used seven thousand metallic pitchers of water to cleanse his face;
ਕੀਯੋ ਮਾਸਹਾਰੰ ਮਹਾ ਮੱਦਯ ਪਾਨੰ ॥ ੳਠਿਯੋ ਲੈ ਗਦਾ ਕੋ ਭਰਿਯੋ ਵੀਰ ਮਾਨੰ ॥੪੧੮॥ कीयो मासहारं महा मढ़दय पानं ॥ उठियो लै गदा को भरियो वीर मानं ॥४१८॥ He ate flesh to his fill and drank wine excessively. After all this that proud warrior got up with his mace and marched forware.418.
ਭਜੀ ਬਾਨਰੀ ਪੇਖਿ ਸੈਨਾ ਅਪਾਰੰ ॥ ਤਰਸੇ ਜੂਥ ਪੈ ਜੂਥ ਜੋਧਾ ਜਝਾਰੰ ॥ भजी बानरी पेखि सैना अपारं ॥ तढ़रसे जूथ पै जूथ जोधा जढ़झारं ॥ Seeing him the innumerable army of monkeys fled away and many groups of gods became frightful;
ਉਠੈ ਗੱਦ ਸੱਦੰ ਨਿਨੱਦੰਤਿ ਵੀਰੰ ॥ ਫਿਰੈ ਰੰਡ ਮੰਡ ਤਨੰ ਤੱਛ ਤੀਰੰ ॥੪੧੯॥ उठै गढ़द सढ़दं निनढ़दंति वीरं ॥ फिरै रढ़ंड मढ़ंड तनं तढ़छ तीरं ॥४१९॥ The terrible shouts of the warriors were heard and the truncated bodies pared by the arrows were seen moving.419.

ਗਿਰੈ ਮੰਡ ਤੰਡੰ ਭਸੰਡੰ ਗਜਾਨੰ ॥ ਫਿਰੈ ਰੰਡ ਮੰਡੰ ਸ ਝੰਡੰ ਨਿਸਾਨੰ ॥ गिरै मढ़ंड तढ़ंडं भसढ़ंडं गजानं ॥ फिरै रढ़ंड मढ़ंडं सढ़ झढ़ंडं निसानं ॥ The chopped trunks of the elephants are falling down and the torn banners are swinging hither and thither;
ਰੜੈ ਕੰਕ ਬੰਕੰ ਸਸਕੰਤ ਜੋਧੰ ॥ ਉਠੀ ਕੂਹ ਜੂਹੰ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੈਣ ਕਰੋਧੰ ॥੪੨੦॥ रड़ै कंक बंकं ससकंत जोधं ॥ उठी कूह जूहं मिले सैण कढ़रोधं ॥४२०॥ The beautiful horses are rolling down and are warriors are sobbing in the battlefield, there is terrible lamination in the whole field.420.
ਝਿਮੀ ਤੇਗ ਤੇਜੰ ਸਰੋਸੰ ਪਰਹਾਰੰ ॥ ਖਿਮੀ ਦਾਮਿਨੀ ਜਾਣ ਭਾਦੋ ਮਝਾਰੰ ॥ झिमी तेग तेजं सरोसं पढ़रहारं ॥ खिमी दामिनी जाणढ़ भादो मझारं ॥ There are fast knocking of the blows, exhibiting the glitter of swords and it seems that the lightning is flashing in the month of Bhason;
ਹਸੇ ਕੰਕ ਬੰਕੈ ਕਸੇ ਸੂਰਵੀਰੰ ॥ ਢਲੀ ਢਾਲ ਮਾਲੰ ਸਭੇ ਤੱਛ ਤੀਰੰ ॥੪੨੧॥ हसे कंक बंकै कसे सूरवीरं ॥ ढली ढाल मालं सढ़भे तढ़छ तीरं ॥४२१॥ The beautiful horses carrying warriors as neighing and the rosary of shields alongwith the sharp shafts look impressive.421.
ਬਿਰਾਜ ਛੰਦ ॥ बिराज छंद ॥ BIRAAJ STANZA
ਹੱਕ ਦੇਬੀ ਕਰੰ ॥ ਸੱਦ ਭੈਰੋ ਰਰੰ ॥ ਚਾਵਡੀ ਚਿੰਕਰੰ ॥ ਡਾਕਣੀ ਡਿੰਕਰੰ ॥੪੨੨॥ हढ़क देबी करं ॥ सढ़द भैरो ररं ॥ चावडी चिंकरं ॥ डाकणी डिंकरं ॥४२२॥ A terrible war began in order in order to appease the goddess kli and the Bhairvas began to shout; the vultures shrieked and the vampires belched.422.
ਪੱਤਰ ਜੱਗਣ ਭਰੰ ॥ ਲੱਥ ਬਿੱਥਥਰੰ ॥ ਸੰਮਹੇ ਸੰਘਰੰ ॥ ਹੂਹ ਕੂਹੰ ਭਰੰ ॥੪੨੩॥ पढ़तढ़र जढ़ढ़गण भरं ॥ लढ़ढ़थ बिढ़थढ़थरं ॥ समढ़हे संघरं ॥ हूह कूहं भरं ॥४२३॥ The bowls of Yoginis were being filled and the corpses scattered; the clusters were destroyed and there was tumult all around.423.
ਅੱਛਰੀ ਉਛਰੰ ॥ ਸਿੰਧਰੇ ਸਿੰਧਰੰ ॥ ਮਾਰ ਮਾਰੱਚਰੰ ॥ ਬੱਜ ਗੱਜੇ ਸਰੰ ॥੪੨੪॥ अछरी उछरं ॥ सिंधढ़रे सिंधरं ॥ मार मारढ़ढ़चरं ॥ बढ़ज गढ़जे सढ़रं ॥४२४॥ The heavenly damsels began to dance and the bugles sounded, the shouts of "Kill, Kill" and the rustling of arrows were heard.424.
ਬਿਰਾਜ ਛੰਦ ॥ बिराज छंद ॥ BIRAAJ STANZA
ਉੱਝਰੇ ਲੱਝਰੰ ॥ ਝੱਮਰੇ ਜੱਝਰੰ ॥ ਬੱਜੀਯੰ ਡੰਮਰੰ ॥ ਤਾਲਣੋ ਤੰਬਰੰ ॥੪੨੫॥ उझरे लढ़ढ़झरं ॥ झढ़ढ़मरे जढ़ढ़झरं ॥ बढ़जीयं डमरं ॥ तालणो तढ़ढ़मबरं ॥४२५॥ The warriors got entangled with one another and the fighters gushed forward; the tabors and other musical instruments were played in the battlefield.425.
ਰਸਾਵਲ ਛੰਦ ॥ रसावल छंद ॥ RASAAVAL STANZA
ਪਰੀ ਮਾਰ ਮਾਰੰ ॥ ਮੰਡੇ ਸਸਤਰ ਧਾਰੰ ॥ ਰਟੈ ਮਾਰ ਮਾਰੰ ॥ ਤਟੈ ਖੱਗ ਧਾਰੰ ॥੪੨੬॥ परी मार मारं ॥ मंडे ससतढ़र धारं ॥ रटै मार मारं ॥ तढ़टै खढ़ग धारं ॥४२६॥ There were blows of arms and the edges of the weapons were sharpened; the warriors repeated the shouts of "kill, kill" and the edge of the spears began to break.426.
ਉਠੈ ਛਿੱਛ ਅਪਾਰੰ ॥ ਬਹੈ ਸਰੋਣ ਧਾਰੰ ॥ ਹਸੈ ਮਾਸਹਾਰੰ ॥ ਪੀਝ ਸਰੋਣ ਸਯਾਰੰ ॥੪੨੭॥ उठै छिढ़छ अपारं ॥ बहै सढ़रोण धारं ॥ हसै मासहारं ॥ पीझ सढ़रोण सयारं ॥४२७॥ There was continuous flow of blood and it also spattered; the flesh-eaters smiled and the jackals drank blood.427.
ਗਿਰੇ ਚਉਰ ਚਾਰੰ ॥ ਭਜੇ ਝਕ ਹਾਰੰ ॥ ਰਟੈ ਝਕ ਮਾਰੰ ॥ ਗਿਰੇ ਸੂਰ ਸਆਰੰ ॥੪੨੮॥ गिरे चउर चारं ॥ भजे झक हारं ॥ रटै झक मारं ॥ गिरे सूर सढ़आरं ॥४२८॥ The beautiful fly-whiskers fell and on one side the defeated warriors ran away; then were repetitions of the shouts of "Kill, Kill" on the other side and the horse-riders fell.428.
ਚਲੇ ਝਕ ਸਆਰੰ ॥ ਪਰੇ ਝਕ ਬਾਰੰ ॥ ਬਡੋ ਜੱਧ ਪਾਰੰ ॥ ਨਿਕਾਰੇ ਹਥਿਯਾਰੰ ॥੪੨੯॥ चले झक सढ़आरं ॥ परे झक बारं ॥ बडो जढ़ढ़ध पारं ॥ निकारे हथियारं ॥४२९॥ On one side the horse-riders started moving and altogether made and attack. They drew out their weapons and began o wage a terrible war.429.
ਕਰੈ ਝਕ ਵਾਰੰ ॥ ਲਸੈ ਖੱਗ ਧਾਰੰ ॥ ਉਠੈ ਅੰਗਿਆਰੰ ॥ ਲਖੈ ਬਯੋਮ ਚਾਰੰ ॥੪੩੦॥ करै झक वारं ॥ लसै खढ़ग धारं ॥ उठै अंगिआरं ॥ लखै बयोम चारं ॥४३०॥ The striking sharp edges of the swords look impressive, the knocking on the shields and the collision of the swords create sparks, which are being seen by the gods from the sky.430.
ਸ ਪੈਜੰ ਪਰਚਾਰੰ ॥ ਮੰਡੇ ਅਸਤਰ ਧਾਰੰ ॥ ਕਰੇ ਮਾਰ ਮਾਰੰ ॥ ਇਕੇ ਕੰਪ ਚਾਰੰ ॥੪੩੧॥ सढ़ पैजं पढ़रचारं ॥ मंडे असतढ़र धारं ॥ करे मार मारं ॥ इके कढ़मप चारं ॥४३१॥ He, on whom the warriors attack, they thrust on him the sharp edges of their arms, the shout of "Kill, Kill" is being raised and the warriors trembling with rage look impressive.431.
ਮਹਾਂ ਬੀਰ ਜਟੈ ॥ ਸਰੰ ਸੰਜ ਫਟੈ ॥ ਤੜੰਕਾਰ ਛਟੈ ॥ ਝੜੰਕਾਰ ਉਠੈ ॥੪੩੨॥ महां बीर जढ़टै ॥ सरं संज फढ़टै ॥ तड़ंकार छढ़टै ॥ झड़ंकार उठै ॥४३२॥ The great warriors have fought with one another and the armours are being torn by the arrows; the arrows are being discharged with crackling sound and the tinkling sound is being heard.432.
ਸਰੰਧਾਰ ਬਠੈ ॥ ਜਗੰ ਜੱਧ ਜਠੈ ॥ ਰਣੰ ਰੋਸ ਰਠੈ ॥ ਇਕੰ ਝਕ ਕਠੈ ॥੪੩੩॥ सरंधार बढ़ठै ॥ जढ़गं जढ़ढ़ध जढ़ठै ॥ रणं रोसढ़ रढ़ठै ॥ इकं झक कढ़ठै ॥४३३॥ There is shower of arrows and it appears that the whole world is absorbed in the war; the warriors are knocking their blows in fury over one another and are chopping (the limbs).433.
ਢਲੀ ਢਾਲ ਉੱਠੈ ॥ ਅਰੰ ਫਉਜ ਫੱਟੈ ॥ ਕਿ ਨੇਜੇ ਪਲੱਟੈ ॥ ਚਮਤਕਾਰ ਉੱਠੈ ॥੪੩੪॥ ढली ढाल उठै ॥ अरं फउज फढ़ढ़टै ॥ कि नेजे पलढ़टै ॥ चमतकार उठै ॥४३४॥ The fallen shields are being picked up and the forces of the enemy are being torn asunder; the lances are overturning and being used miraculously.434.
ਕਿਤੇ ਭੂਮਿ ਲੱਠੈ ॥ ਗਿਰੇ ਝਕ ਉੱਠੈ ॥ ਰਣੰ ਫੇਰਿ ਜੱਟੈ ॥ ਬਹੇ ਤੇਗ ਤੱਟੈ॥੪੩੫॥ किते भूमि लढ़ढ़ठै ॥ गिरे झक उठै ॥ रणं फेरि जढ़ढ़टै ॥ बहे तेग तढ़ढ़टै॥४३५॥ Many people are lying down on the earth and many of those fallen down are getting up and being absorbed in the war, are excessively knocking and breaking their swords.435.
ਮਚੇ ਵੀਰ ਵੀਰੰ ॥ ਧਰੇ ਵੀਰ ਚੀਰੰ ॥ ਕਰੈ ਸਸਤਰ ਪਾਤੰ ॥ ਉਠੈ ਅਸਤਰ ਘਾਤੰ ॥੪੩੬॥ मचे वीर वीरं ॥ धरे वीर चीरं ॥ करै ससतढ़र पातं ॥ उठै असतढ़र घातं ॥४३६॥ The warriors are fighting with warriors and are ripping them with their weapons; they are causing the weapons to fall down and inflicting wounds with their arms.436.
ਇਤੈ ਬਾਨ ਰਾਜੰ ॥ ਉਤੈ ਕੰਭ ਕਾਜੰ ॥ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਸਾਲ ਪਾਤੰ ॥ ਗਿਰਿਯੋ ਵੀਰ ਭਰਾਤੰ ॥੪੩੭॥ इतै बान राजं ॥ उतै कढ़ढ़मभ काजं ॥ करियो साल पातं ॥ गिरियो वीर भढ़रातं ॥४३७॥ On this side the arrows are being discharged and on that side Kumbhkaran is doing his job of destroying the army, but in the end that brother of Ravana fell down like the tree of saal.437.
ਦੋਊ ਜਾਂਘ ਫੂਟੀ ॥ ਰਤੰ ਧਾਰ ਛੂਟੀ ॥ ਗਿਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਦੇਖੇ ॥ ਬਡੇ ਦਸਟ ਲੇਖੇ ॥੪੩੮॥ दोऊ जांघ फूटी ॥ रतं धार छूटी ॥ गिरे राम देखे ॥ बडे दढ़सट लेखे ॥४३८॥ bbbbb
ਕਰੀ ਬਾਣ ਬਰਖੰ ॥ ਭਰਿਯੋ ਸੈਨ ਹਰਖੰ ॥ ਹਣੇ ਬਾਣ ਤਾਣੰ ॥ ਝਿਣਿਯੋ ਕੰਭ ਕਾਣੰ ॥੪੩੯॥ करी बाण बरखं ॥ भरियो सैन हरखं ॥ हणे बाण ताणं ॥ झिणियो कढ़ढ़मभ काणं ॥४३९॥ Both his legs cracked and from them came out the continuous flow of blood. Ram saw and shot an arrow, which killed Kumbhkaran.439.
ਭਝ ਦੇਵ ਹਰਖੰ ॥ ਕਰੀ ਪਹਪ ਬਰਖੰ ॥ ਸਣਿਯੋ ਲੰਕ ਨਾਥੰ ॥ ਹਣੇ ਭੂਮ ਮਾਥੰ ॥੪੪੦॥ भझ देव हरखं ॥ करी पढ़हप बरखं ॥ सढ़णियो लंक नाथं ॥ हणे भूम माथं ॥४४०॥ In their joy she gods showered floweres. When Ranvana the king of Lanka, heard this news, he, in great anguish, threw his head on the earth.440.
