Raja Amar Singh was Ala Singh's grandson and son of Tika Sardool Singh and Rani Hukma/Hukman kaur, he was born in july 1747 (hard badi 7 sampat 1705).

In his eigteenth year he became the Raja of Patiala. He took Khande Da Pahul from Sardar Jassa Singh Ahluwalia. He was said to be very brave and just, under his Raj, Patiala saw a lot of improvement.

In 1767 Amar Singh secured the release of 20,000 Hindus from the imprisonment of Ahmad Shah Durrani. Amar singh died in feburary 1781.(phalgun badi 8 sampat 1838).

The Var Amar Singh Ki is a versified account of a battle fought in AD 1774 between Raja Amar Singh and the neighbouring Bhatti Rajput chiefs.
