Zaid Hamid

Zaid Hamid also Syed Zaid Zaman Hamid [1] who has built a following by saying that the Taliban, Baitullah Mahsud and the death of Benazir Bhutto are all funded by the CIA, Hindu and Zionist extremists has now said that the surviving terrorist of the Mumbai attacks (26/11) is a Sikh. Not speaking Hindi, Urdu or Panjabi, about all I could understand of what he said was that the terrorist was- "…Amar Singh hai, yeh Sikh Hai…" over and over. As for the claims that he and others have made that the Jews are trying to convert all of Afghanistan's and Pakistan's people into Jews, nothing could be more ludicrous.

The Jews have suffered pogroms and hatred in no small part because of the fact that they do not seek to convert anyone. They in fact discourage converts. The word sabbatical (from the Latin sabbaticus, from the Greek sabbatikos, from Hebrew shabbathon, i.e., Sabbath or Shabbat comes from the year that Jews were commanded to desist from working the fields- every seventh year. This practice was intended to keep the Jews from having any surplus crops or grain with which to trade with their neighbors. It was only during the last century that Jews began to settle outside of the Ghettos, which were both externally and internally imposed. They like the Sikhs of today frown on marriages with anyone of another religion. They thought of themselves as the Pure race, God's chosen people. How could they maintain this purity if they mixed with non Jews.

Haredi Judaism

Haredi Judaism is the most theologically conservative form of Judaism. It is often translated as ultra-orthodox Judaism, although Haredi Jews themselves object to this translation. They simply refer to themselves as Jews, and they consider more liberal forms of Judaism to be unauthentic. They can usually be recognized by their long beards, black clothing and their ubiquitous hats under which they wear a kippah.

According to Haredi Jews, authentic Jews believe God wrote the Torah, strictly observe Jewish Law (halacha), and refuse to modify Judaism to meet contemporary needs. The word Haredi derives from the Hebrew word for fear (harada) and can be interpreted as "one who trembles in awe of God" (Isaiah 66:2,5).

In 18th century Europe, as many Jews were promoting a reformation of Judaism that would enable them to take advantage of new opportunities opening up to them outside of the ghetto, more conservative Jews were arguing that Judaism could not be modified in any way. These Eastern European Jews, who fought against the birth of more liberal forms of Judaism, were the founders of today's Haredi movement. Haredim live in insular communities with limited contact to the outside world.

Chabad Lubavitch Hasidic Jews

Lubavitch Hasidism, which is generally presented through its organizational arm called Chabad, is a Jewish Haredi Hasidic movement. Chabad Lubavitch adherents are referred to as Lubavitchers or Chabadniks. They have established Chabad houses around the world not to convert Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims or Buddhists to Judaism, but to establish a house where a Kitchen (Langar) is held to provide Kosher (Kashrut) foods for Jews traveling through countries where Kosher food might not be available. They do, like Sikhs and others, take in guests of other religions, in need of a meal or a place to stay. They teach non jews, if they ask, to be what they call Righteous Gentiles. Chabad houses are begun by a Lubavitch couple - a Rabbi (trained as a shochet or ritual slaughterer) and his wife and their children. This was the form of the Nariman House in Mumbai, which had begun in the apartment of the couple and had grow requiring the building that they had procured in Mumbai. As the Group grows then a Chabad House is usually built in the same way that the Sikhs and most any religion builds places of worship around the world, But unlike other religions the Lubavitchers only protelize to Jews who are not orthodox. You might compare their Rabbis to Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale who was not concerned with winning Christian or Jewish converts to Sikhi (as say Yogi Bhajan), but who was out on the backroads of Punjab trying to bring Sikh youths back to the fundamentals of Sikhi as taught by the Gurus.

Some Muslims including the Prophet of Islam say that Islam is based on Judaism, but they believe that the Jews strayed from the original practice of the religion and they have simply returned Judaism to its original roots by directions passed from Gabriel (Jibrīl) to Mohamet, i.e. the Qur'an.

Muslims of Mumbai

Since the attacks in NYC (9/11) many people of the western world have complained that Muslims have been reluctant to speak out against the attackers. It is often pointed out that many in Muslim countries actually applauded the wanton killing of thousands of innocents including Muslims who died in those attacks, but one can see that the Muslims of Mumbai practice Islam and have even refused to accept the terrorists into their graveyards saying that they are definitely not Muslims, not because like Hamid they think they were Sikhs, but because they say that no one who does what they did could ever claim to be a Muslim.
