Obama President Elect

Barrack Obama President Elect his name Barrack is an African word that means -blessings.

Minutes ago Barrack Obama was just declared as the winner of the USA Presidential election. To his great credit, as a gracious and courageous American, Senator John McCain made a very touching announcement only a few minutes later, accepting defeat. He had to speak loudly and firmly to silence his supporters, who booed as he mentioned President Elect Obama's name, the writer has never heard a more gracious statement made by any losing canidate.

Crowds all over America, not to mention Jakarta, Indonesia and Hawaii where Obama spent many of his younger years, crowds are filling the streets and going wild in jubilation. The young son of a Muslim father, a 'black' man from a poor village in Kenya, and Ann Dunham, a 'white' woman whose parents grew up in Kansas - met at the University of Hawaii and married in Honolulu. After their divorce, a 6-year-old Obama left Hawaii to spend four years in Indonesia with his mother and his Indonesian stepfather, Lolo Soetoro. In 1971, Obama's mother sent him back to Honolulu to stay with his maternal grandparents. He has a nine year younger half-sister Maya Setoro-Ng.

This is the first time that a person partially of African Heritage, raised four years in Asia has ever been elected as the next President. All of the pictures of the US Presidents have, since and well before my birth, have to this day been photos and paintings of 'white' men of European heritage. Many had hoped that Hillary Clinton would become the first female President, but Obama's election opens the way for the young members of congress, and others who have never held any political office, some of Indian (India) heritage, perhaps a Hindu or Sikh to realize that they can aspire to the Presidency, as well.

While that might sound far fetched to some, just listen to the thousands of young 'African-Americans' who are tonight talking about how none of them would have ever believed this possible just a year or so ago. As Obama is saying this minute we, all of us of the many nations from which we and our forefathers have come are the United States of America.
