LAKSHMI (LACHHMI or LAKHMI)

All the gods make obeissance to Lakhmi (Lakshmi). (Bhairo M. 3, p. l] 54)

The Lord, in whose house there is ever youthful Lachhmi (Lakshmi). (Malar Namdev, p. 1292)

Acc. To Sikhism

According to Sikhism in Gurmat Lakshmi is referred to denote to wealth or riches and the bad effects of it. And Like in the story of Prahlad. Lakshmi is also used to denote as an submissive inclusion of god’s powers. In Sikhism Goddesses are Mostly used denote Materialistic Things and Human Emotions.

' ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਸਨਕ ਸਨੰਦ ਮਹੇਸ ਸਮਾਨਾਂ ॥

Beings like Sanak, Sanand, Shiva,

ਸੇਖਨਾਗਿ ਤੇਰੋ ਮਰਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਨਾਂ ॥੧॥

and Shaysh-naaga - none of them know Your mystery, Lord. ||1||

ਸੰਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਬਸਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

In the Society of the Saints, the Lord dwells within the heart. ||1||Pause||

ਹਨੂਮਾਨ ਸਰਿ ਗਰੁੜ ਸਮਾਨਾਂ ॥

Beings like Hanumaan, Garura,

ਸੁਰਪਤਿ ਨਰਪਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਗੁਨ ਜਾਨਾਂ ॥੨॥

Indra the King of the gods and the rulers of humans - none of them know Your Glories, Lord. ||2||

ਚਾਰਿ ਬੇਦ ਅਰੁ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਪੁਰਾਨਾਂ ॥

The four Vedas, the Simritees and the Puraanas,

ਕਮਲਾਪਤਿ ਕਵਲਾ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨਾਂ ॥੩॥

Vishnu the Lord of Lakshmi and Lakshmi herself - none of them know the Lord. ||3|| '

Acc. To Hinduism

According to Hinduism in the Vedas Lakshmi is the Deity/Goddess of fortune. She is one of the gems (Ratan), which sprang out from the ocean, when it was churned by the gods and demons. She became the consort of Vishnu. Because of her resplendent beauty and surpassing loveliness, she is called Padma, Kamla or Kavala. She is represented as sitting at the feet of Vishnu in his repose on the snake Ananta. She is often pictured as standing on a lotus (Padam or Kamal). She is also called Sri or the goddess of prosperity. She is said to have four arms.
