Khalistan Council, Brussels

A Sarbat Khalsa (general congregation of the Sikh people) was convened at the Akal Takht, the Sikh seat of temporal authority in Amritsar, on January 26, 1986. The gathering passed a resolution (gurmattĝ) favoring the independence of Punjab (Khalistan).[4] Khalistan is envisaged as a secular state, rejecting theocracy and espousing a liberal form of nationalism in which all communities may live as equals.

History

It was started in 1986, when Sukhdev Jalwehra got the permission of Jagjit Singh Chauhan. It kept running actively till 2004, now its only active in writing articles. Sukhdev Singh Jalwehra has published a map of Khalistan in 2005, which is one of the most accepted. This because in each state that Khalistan needed, there was an explaination for. And from 1986, till 2003, Sukhdev Singh Jalwehra got the permission from Belgian authorities to hold demonstrations before the Indian Consulate. The demonstration included a march to the consulate and then raising anti-India slogans and pro-Sikh Shaheed and pro-Khalistan slogans. This ended with the burning of the tiranga (Indian Tricolor Flag). Since 2003, it doesnt happen anymore as Sukhdev Singh Jalwehra retired from the active Khalistan movement in Belgium.

Goals

Its goals are the creation of an independant Sikh state of Khalistan in North India.
