Gurudwara Sri Charan Kamal Sahib.jpg

Gurdwara Charan kamal is situated in the Basti Shekh Area of Jalandhar City In Jalandhar District where Miri De Malak Sri (Guru Hargobind Sahib ji) accepted the request of Shekh Darvesh, of the Sufi Shadiliya tariqa (brotherhood), to visit with him at this place. The Sufis whose brotherhoods embraced mysticism and sought to build a bridge between the religions of India and Islam.

At the place where Sri Bhora Sahib is situated, Guru Sahib had a discussion with Sheikh ji. Near to this place is situated Gurudwara Sri Patshahi Chevin. The Sheikh knowing that Mughal authorities might question him concerning his meeting with the Guru is said to have taken the time to put on a blindfold, during the meeting, so that he could 'honestly' swear that he had never laid eyes on the Sikh Guru. Obviously he never expected anyone to ask, perhaps, if he had ever met with Guru Hargobind. Perhaps this was a case of the reported Shia practise of Al-Takeyya. Christians would call this the sin of omission, others might call it a white lie or survival.

"Takeyya" an Arabic word, means "to prevent," or guard against. The principle of Al Takeyya allows Muslims to lie, as a preventive measure against anticipated harm to one's self or fellow Muslims, giving Muslims the liberty to lie under circumstances that they perceive as life threatening. They can even deny their faith, as long as they do not believe it in their hearts. Al-Takeyya is based on Surah 3:28:
"Let not the believers take for friends or helpers unbelievers rather than believers: if any do that, in nothing will there be help from Allah: except by way of precaution (prevention), that ye may Guard yourselves from them (prevent them from harming you). But Allah cautions you (to remember) Himself; for the final goal is to Allah." Surah 3:28

Actions that are said to be acceptable:

Drinking of wine, abandoning prayers, and skiping fasting during Ramadan.
Renounce believing in Allah.
Kneeling in homage to a deity other than Allah.
Swearing insincere oaths.

This has been used to explain the behavior of the 9/11 Attackers who were taped drinking and carousing the night before killing thousands of Innocents without any warning (Both being expressly forbidden in the Qur'an.

Shias are known for practicing this much more so than the Sunnis.

While the Sikhs could have avoided much pain and suffering by such a principle their believe in Waheguru as being essentialy Truth, died by the Lakhs if not Crores as telling such a lie (denying Sikhi) would have been seen as worse than death.
