ਬਿਲਾਵਲ੝ ਮਹਲਾ 5 ॥

ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸ੝ਤ ਸਾਥਿ ਨ ਮਾਇਆ ॥ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਸਭ੝ ਦੂਖ੝ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ॥1॥

ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਪ੝ਰਭ੝ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਆਪੇ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਜਪ੝ ਰਸਨਾ ਦ੝ਖ੝ ਨ ਵਿਆਪੇ ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਤਿਖਾ ਭੂਖ ਬਹ੝ ਤਪਤਿ ਵਿਆਪਿਆ ॥ ਸੀਤਲ ਭਝ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸ੝ ਜਾਪਿਆ ॥2॥

ਕੋਟਿ ਜਤਨ ਸੰਤੋਖ੝ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ ਮਨ੝ ਤ੝ਰਿਪਤਾਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਗ੝ਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥3॥

ਦੇਹ੝ ਭਗਤਿ ਪ੝ਰਭ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਸ੝ਆਮੀ ॥4॥5॥10॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ :-ਸ੝ਤ-ਪ੝ੱਤਰ । ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਿ-ਗ੝ਰਮ੝ਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ । ਸਭ੝-ਸਾਰਾ ।1।

ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ-ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ । ਆਪੇ-ਆਪ ਹੀ । ਰਸਨਾ-ਜੀਭ (ਨਾਲ) । ਨ ਵਿਆਪੇ-ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ ।1।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਤਿਖਾ-ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੝ਰੇਹ । ਤਪਤਿ-ਤਪਸ਼, ਸੜਨ, ਖਿੱਝ । ਵਿਆਪਿਆ-ਫਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ।2।

ਕੋਟਿ-ਕ੝ਰੋੜਾਂ । ਤ੝ਰਿਪਤਾਨਾ-ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।3।

ਪ੝ਰਭ-ਹੇ ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ! ਸ੝ਆਮੀ-ਹੇ ਮਾਲਕ ! ।4।

ਅਰਥ :-ਹੇ ਭਾਈ ! (ਜੇਹੜਾ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ ਉਸ (ਦੇ ਨਾਮ) ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹ੝ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੝ਹਾਂ) ਕੋਈ ਦ੝ੱਖ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ ।1।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ ! ਮਾਂ, ਪਿਉ, ਪ੝ੱਤਰ, ਮਾਇਆ-(ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਜੀਵ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ) ਸਾਥੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣ ਸਕਦਾ, (ਦ੝ੱਖ ਵਾਪਰਨ ਤੇ ਭੀ ਸਹਾਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣ ਸਕਦਾ) । ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆਂ ਸਾਰਾ ਦ੝ੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ ।1।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ ! ਜਗਤ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੝ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭ੝ੱਖ ਤੇ ਸੜਨ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ । ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨ੝ੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ) ਠੰਢੇ-ਠਾਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।2।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ ! ਕ੝ਰੋੜਾਂ ਜਤਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਭੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੝ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਲੋਂ) ਸੰਤੋਖ ਪ੝ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹ੝ੰਦਾ । ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਇਆਂ ਮਨ ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।3।

ਹੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ! ਹੇ ਮਾਲਕ ! (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ) ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ) ਬੇਨਤੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਆਪਣੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ ਦਾਨ ਦੇਹ ।4।5।10।

rav rehiaa prabh sabh mehi aapae || har jap rasanaa dhukh n viaapae ||1|| rehaao ||

thikhaa bhookh bahu thapath viaapiaa || seethal bheae har har jas jaapiaa ||2||

kott jathan sa(n)thokh n paaeiaa || man thripathaanaa har gun gaaeiaa ||3||

dhaehu bhagath prabh a(n)tharajaamee || naanak kee baena(n)thee suaamee ||4||5||10||

Bilaaval, Fifth Mehla:

Mother, father, children and the wealth of Maya, will not go along with you. In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, all pain is dispelled. ||1||

God Himself is pervading, and permeating all. Chant the Name of the Lord with your tongue, and pain will not afflict you. ||1||Pause||

One who is afflicted by the terrible fire of thirst and desire, becomes cool, chanting the Praises of the Lord, Har, Har. ||2||

By millions of efforts, peace is not obtained; the mind is satisfied only by singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||3||

Please bless me with devotion, O God, O Searcher of hearts. This is Nanak's prayer, O Lord and Master. ||4||5||10||
