ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੩ ॥

ਜਗਤ੝ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਅੰਧ੝ ਹੈ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਜੇਤੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੇ ਦ੝ਖ੝ ਲਗੈ ਤਨਿ ਧਾਇ ॥ ਗ੝ਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸ੝ਖ੝ ਊਪਜੈ ਜਾ ਗ੝ਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦ੝ ਕਮਾਇ ॥ ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੇ ਅਨਦਿਨ੝ ਨਾਮ੝ ਧਿਆਇ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਤ੝ ਆਪੇ ਲਾਝ ਤਿਤ੝ ਲਗੇ ਕਹਣਾ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥

ਹਮ ਘਰਿ ਨਾਮ੝ ਖਜਾਨਾ ਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥ ਸਤਗ੝ਰ੝ ਦਾਤਾ ਜੀਅ ਕਾ ਸਦ ਜੀਵੈ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰਾ ॥ ਅਨਦਿਨ੝ ਕੀਰਤਨ੝ ਸਦਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਗ੝ਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥ ਸਬਦ੝ ਗ੝ਰੂ ਕਾ ਸਦ ਉਚਰਹਿ ਜ੝ਗ੝ ਜ੝ਗ੝ ਵਰਤਾਵਣਹਾਰਾ ॥ ਇਹ੝ ਮਨੂਆ ਸਦਾ ਸ੝ਖਿ ਵਸੈ ਸਹਜੇ ਕਰੇ ਵਾਪਾਰਾ ॥ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗ੝ਰ ਗਿਆਨ੝ ਹਰਿ ਰਤਨ੝ ਹੈ ਮ੝ਕਤਿ ਕਰਾਵਣਹਾਰਾ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਪਾਝ ਸੋ ਹੋਵੈ ਦਰਿ ਸਚਿਆਰਾ ॥੨॥

ਧੰਨ੝ ਧੰਨ੝ ਸੋ ਗ੝ਰਸਿਖ੝ ਕਹੀਝ ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗ੝ਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਜਾਇ ਪਇਆ ॥ ਧੰਨ੝ ਧੰਨ੝ ਸੋ ਗ੝ਰਸਿਖ੝ ਕਹੀਝ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਮ੝ਖਿ ਰਾਮ੝ ਕਹਿਆ ॥ ਧੰਨ੝ ਧੰਨ੝ ਸੋ ਗ੝ਰਸਿਖ੝ ਕਹੀਝ ਜਿਸ੝ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸ੝ਣਿਝ ਮਨਿ ਅਨਦ੝ ਭਇਆ ॥ ਧੰਨ੝ ਧੰਨ੝ ਸੋ ਗ੝ਰਸਿਖ੝ ਕਹੀਝ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਤਿਗ੝ਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ੝ ਲਇਆ ॥ ਤਿਸ੝ ਗ੝ਰਸਿਖ ਕੰਉ ਹੰਉ ਸਦਾ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੀ ਜੋ ਗ੝ਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਗ੝ਰਸਿਖ੝ ਚਲਿਆ ॥੧੮॥

Salok, Third Mehla:

The world is blind and ignorant; in the love of duality, it engages in actions. But those actions which are performed in the love of duality, cause only pain to the body. By Guru's Grace, peace wells up, when one acts according to the Word of the Guru's Shabad. He acts according to the True Word of the Guru's Bani; night and day, he meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. O Nanak, as the Lord Himself engages him, so is he engaged; no one has any say in this matter. ||1||

Third Mehla:

Within the home of my own being, is the everlasting treasure of the Naam; it is a treasure house, overflowing with devotion. The True Guru is the Giver of the life of the soul; the Great Giver lives forever. Night and day, I continually sing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praise, through the Infinite Word of the Guru's Shabad. I recite continually the Guru's Shabads, which have been effective throughout the ages. This mind ever abides in peace, dealing in peace and poise. Deep within me is the Guru's Wisdom, the Lord's jewel, the Bringer of liberation. O Nanak, one who is blessed by the Lord's Glance of Grace obtains this, and is judged to be True in the Court of the Lord. ||2||

Pauree:

Blessed, blessed is that Sikh of the Guru, who goes and falls at the Feet of the True Guru. Blessed, blessed is that Sikh of the Guru, who with his mouth, utters the Name of the Lord. Blessed, blessed is that Sikh of the Guru, whose mind, upon hearing the Lord's Name, becomes blissful. Blessed, blessed is that Sikh of the Guru, who serves the True Guru, and so obtains the Lord's Name. I bow forever in deepest respect to that Sikh of the Guru, who walks in the Way of the Guru. ||18||

ਪਦਅਰਥ: ਤਨਿ—ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ।

ਅਰਥ: ਸੰਸਾਰ ਅੰਨ੝ਹਾ ਤੇ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਹੈ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ; (ਪਰ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਭੀ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਤਨਾ ਹੀ) ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਦ੝ੱਖ ਧਾ ਕੇ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਖ਼ਾਸ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਦ੝ੱਖ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ)।

ਅਰਥ: ਜੇ ਜਗਤ ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਕਮਾਝ, ਸੱਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੇ, ਤਾਂ ਸਤਿਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਸ੝ਖ ਉਪਜਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਕੋਈ ਗੱਲ ਆਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕੀਦੀ, ਜਿੱਧਰ ਆਪ ਹਰੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਧਰ ਹੀ ਜ੝ੜਦੇ ਹਨ।੧।

ਪਦਅਰਥ: ਜੀਅ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ—ਜਿੰਦ—ਦਾਤਾ, ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ।

ਅਰਥ: ਸਾਡੇ (ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਰੂਪ) ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਰੂਪ) ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ (ਮੌਜੂਦ) ਹੈ ਤੇ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੇ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਭਰੇ ਹੋਝ ਹਨ, (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਤਿਗ੝ਰੂ ਸਦਾ ਅਸਾਡੇ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ ਕਾਇਮ ਹੈ।

ਪਦਅਰਥ: ਅਨਦਿਨ੝—ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼। ਜ੝ਗ੝ ਜ੝ਗ੝—ਹਰੇਕ ਜ੝ਗ ਵਿਚ।

ਅਰਥ: (ਨਾਮ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਅਸੀ ਸਤਿਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੇ ਅਪਾਰ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਦਾ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਗ੝ਣ ਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਤੇ ਸਤਿਗ੝ਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ, ਜੋ ਹਰੇਕ ਜ੝ਗ ਵਿਚ (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ) ਵਰਤਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ।

ਅਰਥ: (ਸਤਿਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਾਲ) ਸਾਡਾ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਸਦਾ ਸ੝ਖੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸ੝ਤੇ ਹੀ (ਭਾਵ, ਕਿਸੇ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਜਤਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੀ) ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਵਾਪਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਤਿਗ੝ਰੂ ਦਾ (ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ) ਗਿਆਨ ਤੇ ਮ੝ਕਤੀ ਕਰਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ (ਰੂਪ) ਰਤਨ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਕ੝ਰਿਪਾ ਦ੝ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਇਹ ਦਾਤਿ) ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਸ੝ਰਖ਼ਰੂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੨।

ਅਰਥ: ਉਸ ਗ੝ਰਸਿੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਧੰਨ ਧੰਨ ਆਖਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਤਿਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਜਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਗ੝ਰਸਿੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਧੰਨ ਧੰਨ ਆਖਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਿਆ ਹੈ।

ਅਰਥ: ਉਸ ਗ੝ਰਸਿੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਧੰਨ੝ ਧੰਨ੝ ਆਖਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸ੝ਣ ਕੇ ਚਾਅ ਪੈਦਾ ਹ੝ੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਗ੝ਰਸਿੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਧੰਨ ਧੰਨ ਆਖਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਤਿਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਲੱਭਾ ਹੈ।

ਅਰਥ: ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਉਸ ਗ੝ਰਸਿੱਖ ਅਗੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜੋ ਗ੝ਰਸਿੱਖ ਸਤਿਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੇ ਭਾਣੇ ਵਿਚ ਚੱਲਦਾ ਹੈ।੧੮।
