The Damdami Bir is the copy of the Guru Granth Sahib scribed by the accomplished Sikh, Bhai Mani Singh under the guidance and memory of the tenth master Guru Gobind Singh at Damdama Sahib. This Bir had all of the Shabads and hymns (bani) from the Adi Granth Sahib, and added those of the ninth master Guru Tegh Bahadur.

Today the Guru Granth Sahib is the last and final living Guru for Sikhs. Sikhs recite in the Dohra the command

Aagya Bhai Akal Ki, Tabhe Chalaya Panth, Sabh Sikhan Ko Hukam Hai, Guru Manyo Granth, Guru Granth Ji Manyo, Pargat Gurah Ki Deh, Jo Prabh Ko Millibo Chahae, Khoj Shabad Mei Lai. Raj Karega Khalsa, Aaki Rahe Na Koe, Khwaar Hoe Sabh Milenge, Bache Sharan Jo Hoe.

"Under orders of the Immortal Being, the Panth was created. All the Sikhs are enjoined to accept the Granth as their Guru. Consider the Guru Granth as embodiment of the Gurus. Those who want to meet God, can find Him in its hymns. The pure shall rule, and impure will be no more, Those separated will unite and all the devotees shall be saved."
