BHUPAL, also called Bhupalan, a village 13 km north of Mansa (29° 59'N, 75° 23'E) in Bathinda district of the Punjab, is sacred to Guru Tegh Bahadur, who halted here for a night during his travels across the Malva region. The shrine built inside the village to commemorate the visit, called Gurdwara Nauvin Patshahi, comprises a flatroofed hall with a vaulted ceiling. The Guru Granth Sahib is seated in it on a canopied platform. Besides daily worship, special gatherings take place to mark the birth anniversaries of Guru Nanak and Guru Gobind Singh and the martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur.
