Bhai Jivanda, a pious Sikh of the time of Guru Arjan, lived in Fatehpur and once, accompanied by BhaiJagsi and Tiloka Scth, both of the same village, visited the Guru in Amritsar. Guru Arjan was then engaged in assembling the compositions of the Gurus as well as some of the bhagats and Sufis into a volume. According to Bhai Mani Singh, Sikhdn di Bhagat Maid, Bhai Jivanda and his companions mentioned the names ofKanha, Chha|ju, Pilu and Shall Husain, who, then living in Lahore, were well known for their piety, and suggested that their hymns might also be considered for inclusion in the Book. Guru Arjan invited the four poets from Lahore and had them recite their compositions, but forbore from incorporating these in the Adi Granth.
