Kabir wrote this granth in Kashi called Shivpuri. He was in Gyan Khand during that time but when he went to maghar where he got the real Gurmat in the company of saints. Kabir wrote Bavan Akhri first and then again did Sodh in previously written Bavan Akhri and added a few more things to make it a Gurmat Vani.
