Sant Baba Pippal Dass Ji Maharaj ( other names Shri Harnam Dass Ji) was the founder and the first spiritual master of the famous Dera, based in Jalandhar called Dera Sach Khand Ballan. Baba Pippal Dass Ji was born in the village Gill Patti, District Bathinda which is in Punjab. Baba Pippal Dass Ji was married and had 2 sons. Sant Pippal Dass Ji's wife was called Bibi Shobhawanti Ji. The 2 sons were called Shri Sewa Dass Ji and Shri Sarwan Dass Ji( who later became the most successful leader of Dera Sach Khand Ballan).

Early Life

Baba Pippal Dass Ji was a traveller and he travelled many places during his lifetime. On his travels Baba Pippal Dass Ji visited a village called Sarmastpur, which is near Jalandhar. Baba Ji took pleasure to this village which is why Baba Ji decided to move to this village. The village is very close to Ballan, which is another village. In the village there was a Pippal tree, this was very close to the Dera that Baba Ji had created in Ballan. Day after day Baba Ji would always water this tree and in due course the tree came to be a rich green colour. It was from this that the followers of Dera Sach Kand Ballan, starting to call Sant Ji- Baba Pippal Dass Ji.

Baba Pippal Dass Ji and the work of the Guru Granth Sahib Ji

Baba Ji was a scholar in the subject of Punjabi, through this Baba Pippal Dass Ji would read and preach through the Guru Granth Sahib Ji, after a period of time, residents from local villages would come to Baba Ji and ask him for guidance. It was through this as well that Baba Ji established one of the most famous Dera's- Dera Sach Kand Ballan and where the followers of Guru Ravidass would come to visit on local occasions. Baba Pippal Dass Ji also blessed his sangat with Naamdaan and the sangat to achieve what they wanted to achieve during there life's.
