Arjan Singh Chahal, Sardar Bahadur (1839-1908), Was the manager of Sri Darbar Sahib, at Amritsar, from 1890-1896. Born in 1839, to Sardar Javala Singh Chahal, in the village of Chahal, in Amritsar District of Punjab. He was only seven when his father, died in 1846 in the prime of his life. The same year when the Sikh Empire, began to Dissolve, until its annexation in 1849, to British Empire.

He held large jagirs in Tarn Taran Sahib tehsil of Amritsar, Punjab, and in Lyallpur district of Punjab. He was an honorary magistrate and civil judge, an assistant collector and subregistrar of his district, president of the Local Board of Tarn Taran Sahib, a Fellow of the Panjab University, and a member of the Aitchison College Committee.

He became the Chief (Sardar), of his vilage of Chahal, in Amritsar District of Punjab. And also served the Sikh Panth, at Amritsar Sahib.

He received the title of Sardar Bahadur in 1894 and was made a Companion of the Indian Empire in 1906. He was manager of the Darbar Sahib, Amritsar, for over seven years until he resigned in 1896. He was appointed president of the 11 member lighting committee set up in 1896 for the installation of electricity in the Harmandir Sahib, (Darbar Sahib). Sardar Arjan Singh died in January 1908 at the age of 69.
