Ambreek
Ambreek or Ambrarisha was a Ikshvaku king, who was a great devotee and gurmukh.
in hindu Mythology, Ambarisha was an Ikshvaku king. He was a great devotee of Vishnu and adhered firmly to the truth. He performed a yaga with such great devotional fervour that Lord Narayana was pleased to bless him with Sudarshana Chakra (Sudarshana meaning "good vision") and which manifested as a wheel of prosperity, peace and security to his kingdom. Once, Ambarisha performed the Dvadasi Vratha, which required that the king must start a fast on Ekadashi and break it at the start of Dvadasi and feed all the people. As the moment of breaking the fast was drawing near, the mighty sage Durvasa arrived and was received with all honours by Ambarisha. Durvasa agreed to the king's request to be his honoured guest, and asked the king to wait until he finished his bath in the river and returned. As the auspicious moment approached when the king had to break his fast to fulfil the vow of the vrata, Durvasa did not turn up. On the advice of the sage Vasishta, the king broke his fast by taking a Tulasi leaf with water, and waited for the arrival of sage Durvasa to offer him food.
Durvasa, who was well known for his short temper, felt that Ambarisha had violated the respect due to a guest by breaking his fast before the guest had taken his meal, and in his rage created a demon to kill Ambarisha, out of a strand of his hair. Lord Narayana’s Sudarshana intervened, destroyed the demon(ਤੇਜਪੰਜ ਪਰਖ) and started chasing Durvasa himself. Durvasa went to Brahma and Shiva for protection. Both pleaded their inability to save him. He went to Lord Narayana himself, who said that he could do nothing as he was bound by the blemishless devotion of Ambarisha and suggested to the sage to seek the pardon of the king. Durvasa went to Ambarisha, who prayed to Lord Vishnu to recall the Sudarsana and save Durvasa.
ਵਾਲਮੀਕਿ ਰਾਮਾਇਣ ਅਨਸਾਰ ਪਰਸ਼ਸਰਕ ਦਾ ਪਤਰ ਅਯੋਧਯਾਪਤਿ ਸੂਰਯ ਵੰਸ਼ੀ ਰਾਜਾ ਜੋ ਇਕਸ਼ਾਕ ਤੋਂ ੨੮ ਵੀਂ ਪੀੜਹੀ ਸੀ.¹ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਰਖਯਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਵਿਸਨ ਦੇ ਸਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਚਕਰ ਨੇ ਦਰਵਾਸਾ ਰਿਖੀ ਦਾ ਪਿੱਛਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਕਥਾ ਇਉਂ ਹੈ- ਕੱਤਕ ਦੀ ਦਵਾਦਸੀ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਜਾ ਅੰਬਰੀਕ ਝਕਾਦਸ਼ੀ ਦਾ ਵਰਤ ਉਪਾਰਣ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਰ ਸੀ, ਇਤਨੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਰਵਾਸਾ ਰਿਖੀ ਆਇਆ. ਰਾਜਾ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਆਪ ਮੇਰੇ ਘਰ ਭੋਜਨ ਕਰੋ, ਰਿਖੀ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਮੈ ਇਸਨਾਨ ਕਰਕੇ ਆਉਂਨਾ ਹਾਂ। ਰਿਖੀ ਬਹਤ ਚਿਰ ਤੀਕ ਨਾ ਮੜਿਆ, ਰਾਜਾ ਨੇ ਪਰੋਹਿਤ ਦੇ ਕਹਿਣ ਤੋਂ ਵਰਤ ਤੋੜ ਲਿਆ. ਜਦ ਦਰਵਾਸਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਲੂਮ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਆਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਭੋਜਨ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਤਦ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਟਾ ਪੱਟਕੇ ਇੱਕ ਤੇਜਪੰਜ ਪਰਖ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ, ਜੋ ਅੰਬਰੀਕ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਣ ਲੱਗਾ. ਵਿਸਨ ਨੇ ਸਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਚਕਰ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੀ ਰਖਯਾ ਲਈ ਭੇਜਿਆ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਤੇਜਪੰਜ ਪਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ਼ ਕਰਕੇ ਦਰਵਾਸਾ ਦਾ ਪਿੱਛਾ ਕੀਤਾ. ਜਦ ਕਿਸੇ ਲੋਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਰਵਾਸਾ ਦਾ ਬਚਾਉ ਨਾ ਹੋਇਆ, ਤਦ ਹਾਰਕੇ ਅੰਬਰੀਕ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਣ ਲਈ, ਜਿਸ ਪਰ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਸਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਚਕਰ ਤੋਂ ਰਿਖੀ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਇਆ.² ਲਿੰਗ ਪਰਾਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਥਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅੰਬਰੀਸ ਦੀ ਪਤਰੀ "ਸੰਦਰੀ" ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਦੇਖਕੇ ਨਾਰਦ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਵਤ ਰਿਖੀ ਮੋਹਿਤ ਹੋ ਗਝ, ਉਨਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਕੰਨਯਾ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤਦ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਆਪ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਤਰੀ ਪਸੰਦ ਕਰੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਵਾਂਗਾ. ਦੋਵੇਂ ਰਿਖੀ ਜਦੇ ਜਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੇ ਵਿਸਨ ਪਾਸ ਗਝ ਅਤੇ ਹਰ ਇੱਕ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਕਲ ਬਾਂਦਰ ਦੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਣੀ ਚਾਹੀ, ਤਾਕਿ ਕਰੂਪ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਦਰੀ ਨਾ ਵਰੇ. ਇਸ ਪਰ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਬਾਂਦਰਮੂੰਹੇਂ ਹੋ ਗਝ, ਅਤੇ ਸੰਦਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਆਹ ਨਾ ਸਕੇ. ਦੋਹਾਂ ਰਿਖੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਗਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਕੇ ਅੰਬਰੀਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਾਪ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਅੰਧੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਘਿਰਿਆ ਰਹੇਂਗਾ. ਵਿਸਨਭਗਤ ਅੰਬਰੀਸ ਦੀ ਰਖਯਾ ਲਈ ਸਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਚਕਰ ਆਇਆ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸੂਰਜ ਜੇਹਾ ਪਰਕਾਸ਼ ਕਰਕੇ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਦੂਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਰਿਖੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਅਜੇਹਾ ਪਿੱਛਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਜਦ ਤੀਕ ਉਨਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਕੇ ਅੰਬਰੀਸ ਤੋਂ ਮਆਫ਼ੀ ਨਾ ਮੰਗੀ, ਤਦ ਤੀਕ ਟਿਕਣੇ ਨ ਪਾਝ.

ਅੰਬਰੀਕ ਕਉ ਦੀਓ ਅਭੈ ਪਦ ਰਾਜ ਭਭੀਖਨ ਅਧਿਕ ਕਰਿਓ ॥
The Lord blessed Ambreek with fearless dignity, and elevated Bhabhikhan to become king.
