Maha Singh was Maharaja Ranjit Singh's father and the commander of the Sukerchakia misl and controlled a territory in west Punjab based around his headquarters at Gujranwala. He was a Punjabi Sikh chief of an organisation (misl) which formed part of the Sikh Confederacy.
