Vaikuntha (Sanskrit वैकढ़णढ़ठढ़, also Baikuntha) is the Param Padam (supreme abode), or Paramapadham, the abode of Vishnu, situated on Mount Meru. In the Mahabharata it is stated that Vaikuntha is entirely made of gold. Its circumference is eighty thousand miles and all the buildings are made of jewels. Vishnu is seated on white lotuses and Lakshmi sits to his right side. The fragrance from her body is said to spread to eight hundred miles.
