Mai Chand Kaur

Mai Chand Kaur, was the eldest daughter of Sardar Hari Singh Nalwa (1791-1837), and Mai Desan, born at Gujranwala Haveli, of Nalwa family, into a Khatri Sikh family of Uppal Clan. She was married to Sardar Lahina Singh (d. 1893), grandson of Sardar Punjab Singh, a Sohi Khatri Of village Garhjakh, a village adjacent to Gujranwala. She later gave birth to eight daughters and a Son who was named Sardar Ishar Singh Garhjakh. After the fall of the Sikh Kingdom of Punjab in 1849, at the request of his mother in law in retired to Gujranwala Haveli of Hari Singh Nalwa, where he lived with the Nalwa family, until coming under the influence of Baba Rattan Singh, a holy Man, he turned to spiritual pursuit adopting a simple way of life, and came to be known as Sant Lahina Singh. after his death in 1893, Sardarni Chand Kaur, was allowed to was allowed by government to draw half of his pension for her lifetime, living her last days at Gujranwala.
