Gurudwara Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib
Gurudwara Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib is located in the village of Mukarampur some 15 kms. from the city of Sirhind on the Sirhind - Chandigarh Road.
The beautiful Gurdwara's reflection seems to dive deeply into its large Sarovar which runs along the right side of the Gurwara. The repetion of its many arches and their reflections, a detail absent in many Gurdwaras, lends a sense of peace as one gazes at the scene.
Stopping to rest under a Ber Tree
- This Gurdwara is associated with a visit of Guru Tegh Bahadur who stopped at this place while travelling through Ropar, Railon and Nandpurkalar. While resting under the shade of a 'jhari-booti ka ber' tree just outside the village, a couple, Mai Mari and her husband Rup Chand, walking by on the path, recognized the Guru. After paying the Guru their respects they asked Guruji to come and bless their house with his presense. Guruji granted their wish and Mai Mari and her husband served Guruji with great devotion. Guruji stayed there for 17 days.
On taking leave of the couple Guruji gave Rup Chand a document inscribed with an 'edict' and spoke saying, "anyone who sees this edict, he shall see me". From here Guruji travelled through Pamor, Bhagrana and Patiala before he proceeded towards Delhi. It is said that the Martyred Guru's child Guru Gobind Rai also stayed here for 2 days on his way to Anandpur Sahib while coming from Patna.
Celebrations and Associated Lands
The Gurdwara Sahib's premises are spread over 3.5 acres. The day of Puranmasi is celebrated here every month.
