ਸਲੋਕ੝ ਮ: 3 ॥

ਬ੝ਰਹਮ੝ ਬਿੰਦੈ ਤਿਸ ਦਾ ਬ੝ਰਹਮਤ੝ ਰਹੈ ਝਕ ਸਬਦਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥ ਨਵ ਨਿਧੀ ਅਠਾਰਹ ਸਿਧੀ ਪਿਛੈ ਲਗੀਆ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਦਾ ਵਸਾਇ ॥ ਬਿਨ੝ ਸਤਿਗ੝ਰ ਨਾਉ ਨ ਪਾਈਝ ਬ੝ਝਹ੝ ਕਰਿ ਵੀਚਾਰ੝ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਸਤਿਗ੝ਰ੝ ਮਿਲੈ ਸ੝ਖ੝ ਪਾਝ ਜ੝ਗ ਚਾਰਿ ॥1॥

ਕਿਆ ਗਭਰੂ ਕਿਆ ਬਿਰਧਿ ਹੈ ਮਨਮ੝ਖ ਤ੝ਰਿਸਨਾ ਭ੝ਖ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥ ਗ੝ਰਮ੝ਖਿ ਸਬਦੇ ਰਤਿਆ ਸੀਤਲ੝ ਹੋਝ ਆਪ੝ ਗਵਾਇ ॥ ਅੰਦਰ੝ ਤ੝ਰਿਪਤਿ ਸੰਤੋਖਿਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਭ੝ਖ ਨ ਲਗੈ ਆਇ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿ ਗ੝ਰਮ੝ਖਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਣ੝ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥2॥

ਪਉੜੀ ॥

ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਤਿੰਨ ਕੰਉ ਜੋ ਗ੝ਰਮ੝ਖਿ ਸਿਖਾ ॥ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ੝ ਧਿਆਇਦੇ ਤਿਨ ਦਰਸਨ੝ ਪਿਖਾ ॥ ਸ੝ਣਿ ਕੀਰਤਨ੝ ਹਰਿ ਗ੝ਣ ਰਵਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਸ੝ ਮਨਿ ਲਿਖਾ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ੝ ਸਲਾਹੀ ਰੰਗ ਸਿਉ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਕ੝ਰਿਖਾ ॥ ਧਨ੝ ਧੰਨ੝ ਸ੝ਹਾਵਾ ਸੋ ਸਰੀਰ੝ ਥਾਨ੝ ਹੈ ਜਿਥੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਗ੝ਰ੝ ਧਰੇ ਵਿਖਾ ॥19॥

breham bi(n)dhai this dhaa brehamath rehai eaek sabadh liv laae || nav nidhhee at(h)aareh sidhhee pishhai lageeaa firehi jo har hiradhai sadhaa vasaae || bin sathigur naao n paaeeai bujhahu kar veechaar || naanak poorai bhaag sathigur milai sukh paaeae jug chaar ||1||

ki-aa gabhroo ki-aa biraDh hai manmukh tarisnaa bhukh na jaa-ay. gurmukh sabday rati-aa seetal ho-ay aap gavaa-ay. andar taripat santokhi-aa fir bhukh na lagai aa-ay. naanak je gurmukh karahi so parvaan hai jo naam rahay liv laa-ay. ||2||

pa-orhee.

ha-o balihaaree tinn kaN-u jo gurmukh sikhaa. jo har naam Dhi-aa-iday tin darsan pikhaa. sun keertan har gun ravaa har jas man likhaa. har naam salaahee rang si-o sabh kilvikh krikhaa. Dhan Dhan suhaavaa so sareer thaan hai jithai mayraa gur Dharay vikhaa. ||19||

Salok, Third Mehla:

One who knows God, and who lovingly focuses his attention on the One Word of the Shabad, keeps his spirituality intact. The nine treasures and the eighteen spiritual powers of the Siddhas follow him, who keeps the Lord enshrined in his heart. Without the True Guru, the Name is not found; understand this, and reflect upon it. O Nanak, through perfect good destiny, one meets the True Guru, and finds peace, throughout the four ages. ||1||

Third Mehl:

Whether he is young or old, the self-willed manmukh cannot escape hunger and thirst. The Gurmukhs are imbued with the Word of the Shabad; they are at peace, having lost their self-conceit. They are satisfied and satiated within; they never feel hungry again. O Nanak, whatever the Gurmukhs do is acceptable; they remain lovingly absorbed in the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2||

Pauree:

I am a sacrifice to those Sikhs who are Gurmukhs. I behold the Blessed Vision, the Darshan of those who meditate on the Lord's Name. Listening to the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, I contemplate His virtues; I write His Praises on the fabric of my mind. I praise the Lord's Name with love, and eradicate all my sins. Blessed, blessed and beauteous is that body and place, where my Guru places His feet. ||19||

ਪਦਅਰਥ: ਬਿੰਦੈ—ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ਬ੝ਰਹਮ੝—ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ। ਬ੝ਰਹਮਤ੝—ਬ੝ਰਾਹਮਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਲੱਛਣ। ਝਕ ਸਬਦਿ—ਕੇਵਲ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ।

ਕਰਿ—ਕਰ ਕੇ।

ਸੀਤਲ੝—ਠੰਡੇ, ਸ਼ਾਂਤ, ਸੰਤੋਖੀ। ਮਨਮ੝ਖ—ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤ੝ਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ। ਗ੝ਰਮ੝ਖਿ—ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੇ ਹ੝ਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਤ੝ਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨ੝ੱਖ।

ਤ੝ਰਿਪਤਿ—ਰੱਜ, ਰਜੇਵਾਂ। ਜਿ—ਜੋ ਕ੝ਝ।

ਰਵਾ—ਉਚਾਰਾਂ। ਕਿਲਵਿਖ—ਪਾਪ। ਕ੝ਰਿਖਾ—ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਦਿਆਂ। ਵਿਖਾ—ਕਦਮ, ਪੈਰ।

ਅਰਥ: ਜੋ ਮਨ੝ੱਖ ਕੇਵਲ ਗ੝ਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਬ੝ਰਿਤੀ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਬ੝ਰਹਮ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣੇ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਬ੝ਰਹਮਣ-ਪ੝ਣਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ; ਜੋ ਮਨ੝ੱਖ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਝ, ਨੌ ਨਿਧੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਅਠਾਰਹ ਸਿੱਧੀਆਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਗਰ ਲੱਗੀਆਂ ਫਿਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।

ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਮਝੋ, ਸਤਿਗ੝ਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪੂਰੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਗ੝ਰੂ ਮਿਲੇ ਉਹ ਚਹ੝ੰਆਂ ਜ੝ਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ (ਭਾਵ, ਸਦਾ) ਸ੝ਖ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।

ਜਵਾਨ ਹੋਵੇ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਬ੝ੱਢਾ-ਮਨਮ੝ਖ ਦੀ ਤ੝ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਭ੝ੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹ੝ੰਦੀ, ਸਤਿਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮ੝ਖ ਹੋਝ ਮਨ੝ੱਖ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਤੇ ਹੋਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਤੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਗਵਾ ਕੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਸੰਤੋਖੀ ਹ੝ੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

(ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ) ਹਿਰਦਾ ਤ੝ਰਿਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਸੰਤੋਖੀ ਹ੝ੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਫਿਰ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਭ੝ੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦੀ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗ੝ਰਮ੝ਖ ਮਨ੝ੱਖ ਜੋ ਕ੝ਝ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਕਬੂਲ ਹ੝ੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਬ੝ਰਿਤੀ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ।੨।

ਜੋ ਸਿੱਖ ਸਤਿਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮ੝ਖ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ। ਜੋ ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਜੀ ਚਾਹ੝ੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਾਂ, (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਕੀਰਤਨ ਸ੝ਣ ਕੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਗ੝ਣ ਗਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਹਰੀ-ਜਸ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਉੱਕਰ ਲਵਾਂ, ਪ੝ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ ਕਰਾਂ ਤੇ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਕੱਟ ਦਿਆਂ। ਉਹ ਸਰੀਰ-ਥਾਂ ਧੰਨ ਹੈ, ਸ੝ੰਦਰ ਹੈ ਜਿਥੇ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸਤਿਗ੝ਰੂ ਪੈਰ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ)।੧੯।
