ਪਾਰਬ੝ਰਹਮਿ ਨਿਬਾਹੀ ਪੂਰੀ ॥ ਕਾਈ ਬਾਤ ਨ ਰਹੀਆ ਊਰੀ ॥ ਗ੝ਰਿ ਚਰਨ ਲਾਇ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ੝ ਸਮ੝”ਾਰੇ ॥1॥

ਅਪਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਾ ਸਦਾ ਰਖਵਾਲਾ ॥ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਅਪ੝ਨੇ ਕਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਜਿਉ ਪਾਲਾ ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸਤਿਗ੝ਰ੝ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਮ ਕਾ ਪੰਥ੝ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਇ ਚਿਤ੝ ਲਾਗਾ ॥ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗਾ ॥2॥

ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੝ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਗਾਵੈ ॥ ਸਾਧਾ ਕੀ ਧੂਰੀ ਨਾਵੈ ॥ ਅਪ੝ਨਾ ਨਾਮ੝ ਆਪੇ ਦੀਆ ॥ ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕਰਣਹਾਰ ਰਖਿ ਲੀਆ ॥3॥

ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਪ੝ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥ ਇਹ੝ ਪੂਰਨ ਬਿਮਲ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਸ੝ਆਮੀ ॥4॥8॥58॥

ਪਦਅਰਥ: ਪਾਰਬ੝ਰਹਮਿ—ਪਾਰਬ੝ਰਹਮ ਨੇ। ਊਰੀ—ਊਣੀ, ਘੱਟ। ਗ੝ਰਿ—ਗ੝ਰੂ ਨੇ। ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ—(ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਾਗਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ। ਸਮ੝ਹ੝ਹਾਰੇ—ਸੰਭਾਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।

ਕਰਿ—ਬਣਾ ਕੇ। ਜਿਉ—ਜਿਉਂ, ਵਾਂਗ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਵਡਭਾਗੀ—ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ। ਜਿਨਿ—ਜਿਸ (ਗ੝ਰੂ) ਨੇ। ਪੰਥ੝—ਰਸਤਾ। ਭਾਇ—ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ। ਜੀਵਹਿ—ਜੀਊਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੝ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।੨।

ਅੰਮ੝ਰਿਤ—ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ। ਨਾਵੈ—ਨ੝ਹਾਵੈ। ਆਪੇ—ਆਪ ਹੀ।੩।

ਅਧਾਰਾ—ਆਸਰਾ। ਬਿਮਲ—ਸ੝ੱਧ, ਪਵਿਤ੝ਰ। ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ—ਹੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ!।੪।

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮਾਪੇ (ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ) ਪਾਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਣਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਦਾ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨਾਲ ਪ੝ਰੀਤਿ ਤੋੜ ਤਕ ਨਿਬਾਹੀ ਹੈ। ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਗੱਲੇ ਕੋਈ ਕਮੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ। ਸੇਵਕ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗ੝ਰੂ ਨੇ (ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ) ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲਾ ਕੇ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮ੝ੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਇਆ ਹੈ।੧।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨ੝ੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ (ਉਹ) ਗ੝ਰੂ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ, ਜਿਸ (ਗ੝ਰੂ) ਨੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਜਮ ਦੇ ਦੇਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਮਿਟਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੝ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਮਗਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀ ਮਨ੝ੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੝ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੨।

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਿਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸੇਵਕ ਗ੝ਰਮ੝ਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਮਿਟਾ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ)। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ) ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ, ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਸਦਾ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾਇਆ ਹੈ।੩।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦਾ) ਇਹ ਪਵਿਤ੝ਰ ਤੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਹੀ (ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ) ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਤੂੰ ਭੀ ਪ੝ਰਭੂ-ਦਰ ਤੇ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰ, ਤੇ, ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਸਭ ਦੇ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਸ੝ਆਮੀ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ।੪।੮।੫੮।

Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla:

The Supreme Lord God has stood by me and fulfilled me, and nothing is left unfinished. Attached to the Guru's feet, I am saved; I contemplate and cherish the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||

He is forever the Savior of His slaves. Bestowing His Mercy, He made me His own and preserved me; like a mother or father, He cherishes me. ||1||Pause||

By great good fortune, I found the True Guru, who obliterated the path of the Messenger of Death. My consciousness is focused on loving, devotional worship of the Lord. One who lives in this meditation is very fortunate indeed. ||2||

He sings the Ambrosial Word of the Guru's Bani, and bathes in the dust of the feet of the Holy. He Himself bestows His Name. God, the Creator, saves us. ||3||

The Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan is the support of the breath of life. This is the perfect, pure wisdom. The Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, has granted His Mercy; slave Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of his Lord and Master. ||4||8||58||
