On 11 June 2006, the Sikhs celebrate the installation to Guruship of their sixth Guru, Guru Har Gobind (19 June 1595 - 03 March 1644). Guru Sahib became Guru on 11 June 1606 following in the footsteps of his father Guru Arjan Dev who was subsequently imprisoned and martyred by the Mughal rulers. Guru Sahib was responsible for wearing two kirpans - one for Miri and one for Piri and began the rapid and irreversible militarization of the Sikh people. ......Continue reading
