Sushmuna is the central nerve that is activated when the two opposite energies of the prana (positive) and the apana (negative) are united, and are under pressure; as these two energies are joined, they pass through the central nerve, (sushmuna), thereby reaching the higher chakras, and helping a person realize his potential.
