On 11 June 2006, the Sikhs celebrate the installation to Guruship of their sixth Guru, Guru Har Gobind (19 June 1595 - 03 March 1644). Guru Sahib became Guru on 11 June 1606 following in the footsteps of his father Guru Arjan Dev who was subsequently imprisoned and martyred by the Mughal rulers.
