| The Jatt (Jat, Jutt, Jaat) people are a community in the Punjab region of northwestern India, often mistaken as a caste, In broader terms they are an ethnic group, similar to Gujjars and Pashtuns,. They inhabit the states of Haryana, Punjab, UP and Rajasthan and are also numerous in Punjab, Pakistan, with small populations also found in Baluchistan and Afghanistan. They are thought to be descendants of Scythians by many historians who migrated to the fertile region of northwestern India through Sindh as nomadic farmers and settled with the local population. Jat people are mistakenly thought of coming under the shudra class in the Hindu Verna system mainly because of their mass migration occurring well after the caste system system in India was established. They have never adopted the Brahmanical system of Hinduism.

| These clans can also be found amongst castes such as Mazhabis as people residing in villages populated mainly by Jat people would use the Jat zimindar names.
