| I can imagine that Sikhs parents of the time would not allow american, non-sikh men to marry their daughters either - such was the 20s. A baptist family would not have wanted their daughter to marry a Catholic either in those days.

| A few years ago A Sikh canadian family (the grandfather and his daughter (the mother) had their daughter killed for marrying a Sikh of a differing caste-back in India - ignoring the teachings of the Gurus.
