Shaheed Ganj Baba Sukkha Singh, half a kilometre north of the main Gurdwara, is a memorial to the Sikh commander, Sukkha Singh, who fell a martyr here in the battle against Zain Khan, the faujdar of Sirhind, in 1764 just two years after the "Wada Ghallughara"-- the great massacre of Sikhs which had given Ahmad Shah Durrani (who called the Sikhs 'dogs' and kafirs-unbelievers) the thought that he had broken the back of the Sikhs so severely that the Sikh 'spirit' would never recover.
