Preet Rupinder Singh Sodhi,was vibrant student of SDSU, He was 23 years old. SAN DIEGO - The medical examiner has identified a man shot and killed at a 99-cent store over the weekend, as a candlelight vigil is planned in his honor.

The victim was Preet Rupinder Singh-Sodhi, 23, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office. He is survived by his parents who live in India.

Singh-Sodhi was killed during a shooting Sunday at the Grab 'n' Save market at 3537 Adams Ave. Police are still searching for the person who pulled the trigger.

A candlelight vigil was held Wednesday night in his honor. Dozens of people showed up outside of the store to pay their respects. The store's owner, Riswan Daud, spoke with NBC 7/39 on Monday and pleaded for anyone with information to come forward.

"If there is anybody who knows anything about who killed this boy, please, I beg you, please come forward,cont police.

He wept, saying the slain man "was like my son."

Daud said the Singh-Sodhi was a temporary employee.

"They wanted to see their child get a better education and better life and look after them, and that's what he gets," Daud said. "It's really a shame."

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call authorities.
